"Daily Motivations"

"What is the single illuminating thing which shines its light on all the elements of the best parts of your life (the sound of which makes your heart sing and your feet dance)?"

Answer that and then know: that is the thing you must do. -- Mary Anne Radmacher

"Daily Devotions" (KJV and/or NLT)

"God is a judge who is perfectly fair." (Psalm 7:11)

God's character is the benchmark by which all human behavior is measured. God "always acts in a way consistent with the requirements of His character as revealed in His law. He rules His creation with honesty. He keeps His word. He renders to all His creatures their due." (The Wycliffe Bible Encyclopedia)

Moses observed, "Everything He does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright He is!" (Deuteronomy 32:4)

God cannot be bribed or corrupted because His judgments are grounded in His integrity. Because He has all the facts at His disposal, He cannot be fooled. His decisions are always based upon absolute truth. And when God pronounces judgment, He has the power to carry out the punishment.

When Abraham learned that God planned to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham argued that God could not destroy the righteous with the unrighteous. He said: "Far be it from You to do such a thing---to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" (Genesis 18:25)

God's attributes assure us of justice. If He were not all-knowing, how could He know whether or not we sinned knowingly? If He were not present everywhere at once, how could He know all the circumstances surrounding the issue before Him? If He were not all-wise, how could He carry out judgment in a totally just way?

"The Patriot Post"

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people under the pretence of taking care of them. -- Thomas Jefferson

"The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse." -- James Madison

"No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the Affairs of men more than the People of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency." -- George Washington, First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789

"How did it happen? How did our national government grow from a servant with sharply limited powers into a master with virtually unlimited power? In part, we were swindled. There are occasions when we have elevated men and political parties to power that promised to restore limited government and then proceeded, after their election, to expand the activities of government. But let us be honest with ourselves. Broken promises are not the major causes of our trouble. Kept promises are. All too often we have put men in office who have suggested spending a little more on this, a little more on that, who have proposed a new welfare program, who have thought of another variety of 'security.' We have taken the bait, preferring to put off to another day the recapture of freedom and the restoration of our constitutional system." -- U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater (1909-1998)

"Congressmen (and women), with due apologies to F. Scott Fitzgerald, are different from you and me. Privilege makes them soft where life teaches the prudent to be hard, cynical where their constituents must be trustful. The congressional entitlement to privilege, wrought not by talent or inheritance but by legislation, explains the typical congressman's blindness to tint and deafness to tone, revealed in the angry 'town hall' confrontations over health care legislation. Instead of reassuring frightened constituents, Democratic congressmen (and women) denounce the voters who sent them to Washington as Nazis, Brown Shirts and the 'un-American.' Harry Reid, the leader of the Senate Democrats, calls the critics 'evil-mongers..' Congress is dead to anything outside the bubble it has created for itself. ... The rage at the town halls is particularly irksome because congressmen are not accustomed to anyone talking back to them." -- Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden

"The time is now, my fellow Americans, to recapture our destiny, to take it into our own hands. But, to do this will take many of us, working together. I ask you tonight to volunteer your help in this cause so we can carry our message throughout the land. ... Can we doubt that only a Divine Providence placed this land -- this island of freedom -- here as a refuge for all those people in the world who yearn to breathe freely? .... I'll confess that I've been a little afraid to suggest what I'm going to suggest -- I'm more afraid not to -- that we begin our crusade joined together in a moment of silent prayer. God bless America." -- Ronald Reagan

"I went to Senator Ben Cardin's town hall meeting last Monday and came across a woman who had worked as a nurse in Britain's public health system. She provided a personal anecdote that is little peek into what is to come should we adopt the Democrats' plan. Catherine Midkiff, RN RSN, has been a nurse since 1979 and lived in the UK in 1991 and 1992. She earned $10 per hour there, compared to the $22 per hour then being earned by nurses in the US. As an agency night-shift nurse she earned more than staff nurses. Those women had to live in a dormitory on site as their pay would not afford them private residences. She said at St. George's Hospital she worked on a seniors ward where 23 elderly men and women shared the same room. When she asked where the code card was, her British counterparts laughed, saying, 'Oh you must be from America...' For non-seniors, most British hospitals put six people in a room. Wait lists are extremely long. An elderly British citizen she knew came to the US to get heart surgery after waiting a full year in the UK system. Others weren't so lucky. She said for many years, British hospitals had no trauma centers and thousands died as a result. For his part, Cardin simply perpetuated the smear against Obamacare protesters, claiming they were Republican stooges spreading disinformation. However, there were over 2,000 of us and only a handful of ACORN, union and party thugs. That we are no longer being fooled is becoming more and more apparent. The Dems control both houses of Congress so this remains an uphill battle, but if enough get the message that their careers are on the line, these utterly self-serving pols may actually come around to our point of view, simply for sheer survival purposes. We cannot let up. Not for a minute." -- columnist James Simpson

Democrats guarantee abortion coverage in ObamaCare

Urgent: Call your representative and two senators today!

President Obama told liberal clergy that those who claim his health care plan will provide taxpayer funding for abortions are "bearing false witness." But it's the president who is not being truthful with the American people.

The Capps Amendment, passed by Democrats in the Energy and Commerce Committee at the end of July, specifically says that the "public health insurance option shall provide coverage for (abortion) services," and directs the "Commissioner" to "assure" that every American will have access "to at least one .... plan that provides coverage of (abortion) services."

California Democrat Zoe Lofgren admitted in a town hall meeting this month that "abortion will be covered by one or more of the health care plans available to Americans."

Even the Associated Press wrote that ObamaCare "would allow a new government-sponsored insurance plan to cover abortions."

Democrats in the House and Senate have voted down every attempt to make sure abortion funding is kept out of the health care proposal.

There are many reasons to oppose ObamaCare, but stopping the taxpayer funding of abortion is perhaps the most important. Help us protect the life of the unborn by working with us to stop ObamaCare in its tracks.

Take Action!

Click here to get the direct district telephone numbers for your representative and two senators, along with suggested talking points for your call. Congress is out of session, meaning your officials should be in their local offices for the next two weeks. Many are holding Town Hall meetings. Make an effort to speak to your officials personally.

Please forward to your friends and family.

Healthcare reform bill a 'feeder system' for abortion

Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow

A Catholic pro-life leader calls H.R. 3200 the "Planned Parenthood economic stimulus package."

Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International http://www.hli.org/, is referring to H.R. 3200, Title V Other Provisions, Subtitle B, School-Based Health Clinics on pages 992 through 1,000. This section of the bill deals with the creation of School-based Health Clinics that are to be set up in or near public schools.

Under the provision, schools would compete for federal grants to establish said clinics, and the clinics would answer solely to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The clinics would offer care for physical health, social and mental health, and age-appropriate health education services.

"Kids will be taken into school clinics beyond the authority of their parents, and all that kind of indoctrination will go on. Sex ed will be given, I'm sure, very generously through these in schools as well," Euteneuer contends. "There will probably be very little oversight, and so Planned Parenthood will get away with murder as usual, and that will continue to form the feeder system for Planned Parenthoods abortion clinics."

This section of the healthcare bill does contain language, however, that the clinics will be required to operate in compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing parental and guardian consent.

Dick Cheney Fox News Sunday Interview (VIDEO)

Tim Hawkins - The Government Can

Morning Bell: Politics Before Justice at Obama’s DOJ

On Friday of last week, following the announcement that Attorney General Eric Holder would appoint a prosecutor to re-investigate the CIA’s treatment of detainees, former Vice President Dick Cheney taped an interview with Fox News. During the interview, which aired yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Cheney describes Holder’s decision as an “outrageous political act” that will have “devastating” consequences within the CIA.

Cheney is dead on. But unfortunately Holder’s political CIA witch hunt is just the latest example of a troubling pattern of politicization of the Justice Department under Holder.

Voter Intimidation: On Election Day 2008, members of the New Black Panther Party dressed in military-style uniforms were filmed standing outside a polling place in Philadelphia. According to a complaint filed by career lawyers at the Justice Department, the New Black Panther Party violated section 11(b) of the Voting Rights Act by engaging “in coercion, threats, and intimidation” of voters, including “racial threats and racial insults” as well as brandishing “a deadly weapon.”

One of the defendants named was Jerry Jackson, a Democratic Committeeman of the 14th Ward in Philadelphia. The front-line career lawyers in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division recommended that Justice seek sanctions against the party and three of its members after the government had already won a default judgment in federal court against the men. But then Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, the politically appointed No. 3 official in the Obama Justice Department, intervened. Instead of following through and getting an injunction to prevent this behavior in future elections, the suit was dismissed against all defendants, but Jackson, who received a watered-down injunction to prevent him from carrying a weapon in a polling place. But only in Philadelphia and only until 2012!

Public Corruption: In 2008, a federal grand jury began an investigation into a possible pay-to-play scheme in which lucrative work on New Mexico bond deals went to a Gov. Bill Richardson (D) donor. But then just last week, news leaked that that no one would be charged in the investigation with sources telling the Associated Press: “It’s over. There’s nothing. It was killed in Washington.” Heritage senior legal fellow Hans von Spakovsky explains why this is so troubling: “For anyone familiar with internal Justice Department procedures, this is particularly suspicious. The DOJ has a manual called “Federal Prosecution of Election Offenses” (I helped edit the latest edition when I was at Justice) that sets out the rules and procedures for U.S. attorneys when they are investigating these types of public-corruption cases. It is the U.S. attorney in New Mexico who would normally make the final call on a local public-corruption case, not ‘top Justice Department officials’ in Washington.”

Undermining National Security: In 2004 the CIA Inspector General issued a report documenting alleged detainee abuse by CIA interrogators and contractors. The DOJ’s career, not political, prosecutors then examined that document and other incidents from Iraq and Afghanistan for legal accountability. In one case, the DOJ decided to prosecute, and has already obtained a criminal conviction of a CIA contractor. Furthermore, the CIA has also taken their own disciplinary action against others involved in the incidents. As Heritage senior fellow Peter Brookes explains, Holder’s decision to re-investigate the CIA will have a chilling effect on the morale at the agency and will leave officers in the field wondering whether they should be more concerned about getting terrorists or getting lawyers.

Anyone familiar with Holder’s history should not be surprised by the politicization of the Justice Department under his leadership. In 1999, Holder promoted clemency for 16 members of FALN and Los Macheteros, terrorist organizations linked by the FBI to more than 130 bombings and six murders. Then in 2000 Holder played a prominent role in the pardon of Marc Rich, whose ex-wife gave considerable sums to the Democratic Party ($867,000) and the Clinton Library ($450,000).

Now, as the head of DOJ, Holder’s political decisions are undermining core rule of law concerns including the integrity of elections, ethical governance, and national security. Holder reports directly to his boss, President Barack Obama. Someone needs to be held accountable.

Quick Hits:

According to Rasmussen Reports, 57% of Americans would vote to replace the entire Congress and start all over again.

Public interest groups are concerned that the Obama administration is spending billions in stimulus dollars to expand high-speed Internet networks without first knowing where they are most needed.

According to the Associated Press, politics, not need, is dictating how $720 million is spent for border upgrades.

According to the National Association of Small Business Contractors, the Obama administration has repeatedly failed to meet its obligation to set aside 23 percent of its contracts to small businesses.

More than $3.1 billion in stimulus money for state unemployment insurance programs is sitting in a federal trust fund because 23 states (only 11 under GOP control) have refused to change their unemployment system as dictated by Congress to qualify for the program.

Healthcare Reform Foes Using Radical Alinsky's Tactics

Influential Chicago activist Saul Alinsky wrote the book on community organizing for the left.

Now in an ironic twist, opponents of President Barack Obama and the Democrats' healthcare reform plans are employing some of the very same tactics that Alinsky, who died in 1972, espoused in his work "Rules for Radicals."

As healthcare reform foes angrily confront lawmakers at town-hall meetings, The New York Times observed: "It is an irony of the current skirmishing about healthcare that those who could be considered Mr. Alinsky's sworn enemies — the groups, many industry sponsored, who are trying to shout down Congressional town hall meetings — have taken a page from his handbook on community organizing."

Among the Alinsky "trademarks" that the Times' Noam Cohen pointed to are "using spectacle to make up for lack of numbers," targeting an individual — in this case Obama — and "using ridicule to persuade the undecided."

As for complaints from Democrats about the reform opponents' sometimes belligerent tactics, Alinsky stated that "any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition as being unethical."

The Internet availability of many town-hall confrontations would have won approval from Alinsky, who urged activists to seek media attention — in particular by challenging public officials on camera.

The boisterous disruption of the meetings by reform foes also jibes with Alinsky's tactics. He advised organizers to "raise a din and clamor that will make the listener believe that your organization numbers many more than it does."

Among the many community organizers influenced by Alinsky, the most prominent today is — Barack Obama. He learned and taught Alinsky's methods for community organizing while working for the Developing Communities Project in Chicago.

Glenn Beck Targets Pro-Marxist at FCC

AIM Column | By Cliff Kincaid

2005 testimony that Lloyd provided to a congressional forum…raises even more questions about his totalitarian mind-set and background.

Raising new concerns about another controversial Obama Administration official, testimony has surfaced from Mark Lloyd, the new Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), in which he praises Paul Robeson, the communist actor and singer who was an apologist for Soviet dictator and mass murderer Joseph Stalin.

Lloyd, who worked as a broadcast journalist at NBC and CNN, has come under fire from Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck and Seton Motley of the Media Research Center for being openly critical of private media companies in the U.S. and Venezuela, where Lloyd believes that Marxist ruler Hugo Chavez is trying to implement a popular democracy.

At the FCC, Lloyd is in a position to try to influence and control media content by making statements and issuing directives on media "diversity" and fairness.

But 2005 testimony that Lloyd provided to a congressional forum headed by far-left Democratic Rep. John Conyers raises even more questions about his totalitarian mind-set and background.

Declaring that media bias "led to the persecution of Paul Robeson and the promotion of Joe McCarthy," Lloyd tried to convey the impression that Robeson had been unfairly targeted by anti-communist congressional investigations, perhaps by Senator McCarthy himself, and that the media had been part of the process. The Lloyd testimony is available on video or in somewhat separate form as a prepared statement.

While Robeson deserved praise for his artistic talents, there is no excuse at this late date for ignorance about Robeson's real record not only as a secret member of the Communist Party USA but as an apologist for communist tyranny. Lloyd's comments suggest that he would have preferred that the media not make an issue of Robeson's involvement in an international movement that has cost the lives of more than 100 million people.

At a 2008 "media reform" conference sponsored by the George Soros-funded Free Press organization, Lloyd declared that the Marxist revolution in Venezuela under Chavez was "incredible" and "dramatic" but that the "property owners and the folks who were then controlling the media in Venezuela rebelled" against the would-be dictator and supported a coup against him. However, Lloyd said that Chavez wised up and "then started to take the media seriously..."

The implication of these remarks is that Chavez dealt with his opponents in the media by trying to control or silence them, and that Lloyd supports that strategy when dealing with opponents of revolutionary Marxism here in the U.S.

Accuracy in Media, which published the book, The Death of Talk Radio?, has been warning for years that the liberal/left has a plan to silence conservative media voices. Lloyd appears to be the point man in this scheme.

The process has accelerated in Venezuela. Indeed, the National Press Club of the U.S. noted in an August 6 statement that it is "distressed by the Venezuelan government's recent actions to intimidate and bully the country's media. The government of Venezuela has taken a series of steps since July 31 that threaten to destroy press freedom. On July 31, the government revoked licenses for more than 30 private radio stations and a Venezuelan minister has said more than 200 other stations are under investigation. Venezuela's attorney general recently proposed a 'Special Law Against Media Crimes' that would punish journalists who present a 'false perception' or 'cause a panic.' Venezuela's journalist association says the law will 'criminalize journalism.'"

National Press Club President Donna Leinwand said that "These actions are designed to sow fear among journalists whose reporting challenges or criticizes the government. If the government persists, it will erode free expression. We call on the government of Venezuela to allow media organizations to operate unfettered."

It is apparent that Chavez is using the government to force private companies out of the media business and restrict and investigate the remaining independent journalists. This is a process that apparently meets with the approval of "progressives" such as Mark Lloyd in the U.S.

Could this be their plan in the U.S. as well?

Beck, who has programs on television and radio, thinks so. He declared on Fox News that Lloyd will be "implementing the rules that will put people like me out of business."

Lloyd's comments on Robeson, an apologist for communist dictatorship, are just as worrisome as his defense of the emerging dictatorship in Venezuela.

Contrary to what Lloyd claimed, Robeson's political problems actually began in 1948, two years before McCarthy emerged as a scourge of communists, when the revelation of State Department official Alger Hiss being a Soviet agent, as well as the communist coup in Czechoslovakia and the Berlin blockade, had "shattered many illusions about Stalin's intentions," as we pointed out in a 1976 AIM Report. Yet, Robeson continued to support Stalin and even accepted his "Peace Prize" in 1952. One year later Robeson delivered a tribute to Stalin entitled, "To You Beloved Comrade," in which he said, "Glory to Stalin."

The Communist Party USA was a Soviet-funded pawn of Moscow and supplied agents for intelligence activities against the U.S. Government and society.

Robeson was one of those black Americans who was manipulated and exploited by the communists in order to undermine the United States during the Cold War.

Robeson took the Fifth Amendment when testifying before congressional committees beginning in 1948. The CPUSA had advised its members to take the Fifth because witnesses had emerged who could support charges of perjury against those who testified falsely. Manning Johnson, a former top CPUSA official, had identified Robeson as a member of the party.

The CPUSA later admitted Robeson's CPUSA membership by issuing a pamphlet about Robeson titled, "American Communist," in which CPUSA chairman Gus Hall said that Robeson had been "a proud member of the Communist Party" and that communism "defined, guided and motivated his whole life..."

Rather than being a victim of the press, AIM demonstrated in an AIM Report article, "The Media Falsify Robeson's Record," that the major media glossed over his communist record when he died in 1976.

The interest by FCC official Mark Lloyd in Robeson is significant. Robeson was an associate of Frank Marshall Davis, another black Communist Party USA member who served as Barack Obama's mentor when he was a child in Hawaii. Davis had called Robeson "the great one."

During a trip to Hawaii, where Robeson was supposed to meet with labor leader Harry Bridges, another secret member of the CPUSA, an FBI internal security memorandum warned "of the possibility that the subject [Robeson] may be engaged in intelligence activities" and that his contacts with the CPUSA or "allied organizations" should be monitored.

Davis had been on the FBI's security index, meaning that he was a potential threat to U.S. national security, and was himself reported to have engaged in espionage-type activities.

Lloyd's use of Robeson in the context of alleged media bias demonstrates not only a failure to appreciate the facts of the case but a desire to see the media used in service to Marxist causes, in order to conceal the activities of communist agents.

Lloyd's May 24, 2005, testimony came before Conyers, the "people's congressman," as a member of a left-wing panel entitled "Media Bias and the Future of Freedom of the Press." The members of the panel and their affiliations at the time were:

Al Franken, the Al Franken Show on Air America Radio, author of Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.

David Brock, founder of Media Matters.

Randi Rhodes, the Randi Rhodes Show on Air America Radio.

Joe Madison, The Black Eagle Radio Show.

Justin Webb, Senior Washington Correspondent of BBC News.

Eric Alterman, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress.

Steve Rendall, media watchdog group FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting).

John Aravosis, America Blog.

Mark Lloyd, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress.

It is noteworthy that Lloyd has followed the same path to an Obama Administration job as communist Van Jones, now the "Green Jobs Czar" at the White House Office of Environmental Quality. Jones, too, had worked at the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress.

Another bio for Lloyd says that "He has also served as a consultant to the Clinton White House, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Open Society Institute and the Smithsonian Institution." The Open Society Institute is funded by billionaire George Soros.

Significantly, Lloyd's official FCC bio notes that he was the General Counsel of the Benton Foundation. This is the group, as we noted in an AIM Report "The Plan for Government-Funded Socialist Media," that "is spearheading efforts to get the federal 'stimulus' money into the hands of 'progressive" groups and state and local governments."

It is apparent that Lloyd believes that new taxpayer-funded "public media" should replace private media companies that he believes have violated the public trust and which stand in the way of the Obama revolution.

"Our communication system supports a vibrant commercial media but ignores the needs of a government of the people," he said. "The bias inherent in such a system promotes the agenda of corporations not citizens."

He went on, "If we really want news we can trust, we must create a structure that makes it possible and we must pay for it. One way to do this is to require commercial media to pay full fare for their access to public resources and use that money to fully support public service media in the U.S."

The appointment of Lloyd, who had also served as the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights/ Education Fund, was announced on July 29 by Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski.

Like the Van Jones position, Lloyd was not subject to Senate confirmation.

However, Senator Charles Grassley sent an August 14 letter to Genachowski, questioning the appointment and Lloyd's views.

Glenn Beck says that Lloyd, like Jones, is another example of how Obama is transforming America. He says Americans have to act to save their nation from a communist future.

An O’Reilly Ambush Interview for Dan Rather?
AIM Column | By Cliff Kincaid

The politically potent broadcast, if accurate, might have destroyed Bush’s re-election campaign and handed the victory to Senator John Kerry.

For those interested in getting to the bottom of Dan Rather's smear of George W. Bush, just before the 2004 presidential election, there are some interesting new developments. Former CBS News employee Bernard Goldberg started the controversy anew with his Tuesday night appearance on the O'Reilly Factor to talk about what became known as Rathergate.

Goldberg said that a "lost fact"-that George W. Bush had actually volunteered for service in Vietnam, thereby completely undermining one of the main premises of the scandalous September 8, 2004, broadcast-was included on page 130 of the official report into the hit job. Goldberg is correct, although AIM had published this "lost fact" back in 2005 in a press release, an AIM Report, and a series of columns about the report. We gave dozens of interviews about this critical piece of information.

In a follow-up report on his website, Goldberg now acknowledges that he should have given AIM credit. He writes that, "...I should have mentioned that Accuracy in Media was one of the very few organizations to report this fact early on. I merely said that 'a few websites' had noted the finding. My apologies to AIM."

The issue is legitimate, however, and the evidence actually shows that the "lost fact" surfaced and was on the public record before the special panel issued its report into what Dan Rather, the successor to Walter Cronkite as anchorman of the CBS Evening News, knew and when he knew it. So there was absolutely no excuse for Rather and Mary Mapes, who was Rather's producer on the broadcast, to have ignored it.

The "lost fact," which is critically important in the controversy, was included in a February 11, 2004, letter in the Washington Times from Bill Campenni, a retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force/National Guard, who revealed that "A pilot program using ANG [Air National Guard] volunteer pilots in F-102s (called Palace Alert) was scrapped quickly after the airplane proved to be unsuitable to the war effort. Ironically, Lt. Bush did inquire about this program but was advised by an ANG supervisor (Maj. Maurice Udell, retired) that he did not have the desired experience (500 hours) at the time and that the program was winding down and not accepting more volunteers."

Bush and Campenni were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard from 1970 to 1971.

This information appeared seven months before Rather and Mapes aired the 60 Minutes program that included the implication that Bush had joined the National Guard for the purpose of avoiding the Vietnam War.

Campenni also tells me that on February 14, 2004, Peter Bacque of the Richmond Times Dispatch ran an article about the information under the headline:

Rather was kept mostly off the air but temporarily on the payroll in the wake of the scandal, while Mapes was fired and then tried to cash in by writing a book with the lofty title, Truth And Duty: The Press, The President, And The Privilege Of Power. She now writes occasionally for the liberal website the Huffington Post, which insists that "she was fired for producing a controversial report on President George W. Bush's military service."

The new controversy sparked by Goldberg raises more questions about whether Rather, increasingly isolated from his former colleagues and relegated to a back pew at the Cronkite memorial service, can continue with his questionable lawsuit against his former employer over how they treated him when the broadcast backfired. Incredibly, Rather is asking for $70 million in damages when the broadcast that he narrated brought disrepute on the network.

Thanks to billionaire Mark Cuban, Rather now works for Cuban's little-watched HDNet channel. Rather has also tried to remake himself, showing up as a speaker at a 2008 "media reform" conference sponsored by the George Soros-funded Free Press organization on the subject of how corporations supposedly threaten journalistic independence.

Conservative bloggers were the first to question the phony "documents" used by Rather on the air that ultimately forced a public retraction and the investigation of the program. AIM honored two of those bloggers, Harry MacDougald and Paul Boley, with the Reed Irvine Investigative Journalism Award, named after the AIM founder.

Campenni also gives the bloggers credit for being the first to report the information that Bush volunteered to go to Vietnam. He adds that "the information was already out there even earlier in 1999, when media contacted Bush fellow pilots like Maury Udell and Fred Bradley specifically about Bush and the Palace Alert volunteer program. Ironically, Mapes was one of Udell's interviewers."

A strange twist on the current controversy has been offered by Felix Gillette, who purports to cover the media for the New York Observer and has tried to give Mapes some kind of credit for eventually reporting the information.

Acting like he has made a startling discovery, he writes that the discredited Mapes had acknowledged in her book-published two years after the scandal-that "Udell told me that Bush had wanted to go to Vietnam." Gillette presents this information as if it undermines Goldberg's appearance on O'Reilly. Goldberg's point was that Mapes had this information before the broadcast but proceeded to do a program that left it out and led viewers to believe that Bush had joined the National Guard to avoid Vietnam.

The question that Gillette ignores-and which Goldberg was absolutely correct to bring up-was why Mapes omitted the information that undercut one of the central premises of the broadcast. The quick answer is blatant anti-Bush, anti-conservative political media bias.

In the context of the program and its timing, however, the purpose was to present Bush as a draft dodger and coward who nevertheless was sending young men off to die in a bloody war in Iraq. The other theme was to give the impression that Bush had used his family connections to get into the Texas Air National Guard Unit. But if you go to pages 13 and 46 of the same report, you find that while Mapes had tried to make that point in the discredited "60 Minutes" story, she knew that there was no waiting list to get into the difficult fighter-pilot training program and that several former Air National Guard officials had already told her there had been no preferential treatment.

The politically potent broadcast, if accurate, might have destroyed Bush's re-election campaign and handed the victory to Senator John Kerry.

But the broadcast backfired because it was based on forged documents and was not accurate. The outcome of the scandal was so startling and damaging to CBS that there was speculation on the fringe left that Bush adviser Karl Rove had somehow planted the forged documents with CBS as part of a bizarre plot to embarrass the network, discredit the media, and help Bush win.

The disgraced Rather, who had been the subject of a long-running "Can Dan" campaign by Accuracy in Media over a history of slanted news reports, left the network and subsequently filed his $70 million breach of contract suit against CBS, insisting he had been mistreated. Among Rather's most notorious reports was that the Soviets had accused the Pentagon of manufacturing the AIDS virus. Rather gave credence to the report by not even seeking a U.S. government response.

Into this ongoing legal battle steps Bernard Goldberg, insisting on the O'Reilly Factor on Tuesday night that this "lost fact" has come from some mysterious "Deep Throat" type of source somewhere.

Coming down hard on Rather personally, Goldberg, who used to work for CBS News and blew the whistle on the network's liberal bias, said that it was clear that Mapes didn't share the information about Bush volunteering for Vietnam duty with the CBS audience but the question is, "Did she share it with her correspondent, Dan Rather?"

Goldberg asked, "What did Dan know and when did he know it?"

O'Reilly, a former CBS News correspondent, promised, "The next time we see Dan Rather we'll ask him: did you know about this deal that he volunteered in Vietnam?"

"We can find him," O'Reilly vowed. "You know us."

In fact, Rather has an office in New York City, not too far from where O'Reilly has his own. It doesn't seem like too much of a stretch for Rather to appear on the O'Reilly show to answer these serious charges from a former CBS insider.

If Rather declines the invitation to appear, why not send O'Reilly producer Jesse Watters down to Rather's office for one of those famous ambush interviews?

Rather, of course, loses no matter what he says. If he claims ignorance, he looks like a dolt. If he admits knowledge of the evidence and the cover-up, he looks like a dishonest hatchet man. If he avoids an interview and the questions, he looks like someone with something to hide.

The result: his lawsuit looks increasingly like a hopeless personal vendetta-and very costly to someone whose reputation is already in tatters.

A true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in prison

This is very interesting and just a bit scary ... but is it scary enough to generate something besides talk?

I'm afraid far too many Catholics, Protestants, and Jews will wait until it hits them upside the head on a very personal level before they will do something besides talk about it. But by then it will be too late.

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States ,especially in the minority races!!!

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic,Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked:'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation,he replied, 'Non-believers!'

I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of 'a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'

He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'

I then stated, 'Well sir, I have a real problem trying to Imagine Pope Benedict commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr.Charles Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'
The Imam was speechless!

I continued, 'I also have problem with being your 'friend' when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven. and He wants you to be there with me?'

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.Needless to say, the organizers and/or Promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President! I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with our liberal justice system, liberal media and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. The most puzzling thing to me is... once Islam takes over, there will no longer be a liberal media or an ACLU, or a liberal justice system. So in effect, they are slitting their own throats by not publicizing this.

This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in prison ministry. The man who walks with God always gets to his destination If you have a pulse you have a purpose.
