WISDOM

If you support our national security issues, you may love and appreciate the United States of America, our Constitution with its’ freedoms, and our American flag.

If you support and practice our fiscal issues, you may value worldly possessions.

If you support and value our social issues, you may love Judeo-Christian values.

If you support and practice all these values, that is all good; an insignia of “Wisdom” . - Oscar Y. Harward

Personal Spending & Time Values!

Why do so many innocently spend our hard earned money going to the movies supporting motion picture stars, producers, directors, and others who support various political and social values which contradict with our own cultures as Judeo-Christian values? Why do we pay to finance those who openly fund opposition to our values?

Over the years, I have questioned why so many of us will smoke cigarettes, now that we know the habit is injuring and/or killing most of us. After smoking for some 38 years, I gave up this habit following my first heart attack. Every time I see someone carrying a personal oxygen tank, I want to ask…. “How long did you smoke”?

Why do we spend our hard-earned money on beer, wine, liquor, and/or other alcoholic beverages, or illegal drugs rather than on many other necessities? While most say these beverages and/or drugs relax them, many end up with a worse “hangover”, often to time at work and/or valuable time with family and friends. What is even worse is when we destroy our own family over the evils of alcohol and/or illegal drugs, or by drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs; we kill other innocent members of out society. When will we all learn?

The answers to these and other similar questions are because we never think about it “that way”, we are all sinners, and are weak in today’s’ society. We must reach out for God, His Grace, His Forgiveness, His Wisdom; and follow Him. He is open to welcome any and all!

In America, we are currently at war fighting radical left-wing activists over social and family values. As for me, one of the biggest losses was presented to us in 1963, when the “then” US Supreme Court removed public Prayer from our public schools. It was after the 1963 ruling to remove the Prayer from public schools, that illegal drugs, guns, and other items entered the schools starting the devaluation of existence; even life. Several additional Supreme Court rulings have devalued the life, which I grew up in and was taught. Today’s’ Judeo-Christian values are the same values and are just as critical to life of yesterday, today, and tomorrow I have tried to pass those values along to my son, my grandchildren, friends, neighbors, and anyone else who was willing to listen.

Many of us have failed to get involved in the political process to make sure our elected and/or appointed officials will uphold the Judeo-Christian values on which our US Constitution was founded upon. We “don’t have the time” or we “don’t take the time” to be a part of the political process. We don’t want to rock the boat. Most of us keep quiet and hope for the best. As members on the “team” of American Judeo-Christian values, we must ask questions, seek out honest answers and values, and act accordingly. When you and I fail to focus on these questions, we are merely allowing the opposite opinion to win without address.

Here is an e-mail from a friend of more than thirty (30) years, Rev. Floyd J. Wood, Cooleemee, NC sent me, which may help in summarizing our mind on this matter. Thank you, Rev. Wood, for your contribution on this article and for your life’s unselfish giving to mankind on God’s Word.

ISN'T IT STRANGE?Isn't it strange how a 20-dollar bill seems like such a large amount whenyou donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and howshort they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, butyou have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of theBible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeksbefore the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it forother events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share itwith others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeatgossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspaperssay, but we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't wantto believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded rightaway, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about ittwice before we share it with others?

From The E-Mail Bag: JOHN GLENN SAID

Over the years, I have made an effort to develop personal and political relationships in the political process with men and women all over America. Recently, one of our own retired Union County, NC native, SGM Steven L Jenkins, now living in Randolph County, NC sent me the following article. Many of us have served in the Military of the United States. Few have given so many years of their lives for the freedoms protecting our American flag, our US Constitution, and our free loving people in America and around the world. I am so delighted to have met him through a friend of my family while Steve Jenkins was a student in Forest Hills High School in Marshville, NC and followed his career throughout his years in the US Army and his now retirement. Thank you, Steve Jenkins, for your past and current service to our USA. Steve has authorized me to use his name on this e-mail.

From The E-Mail Bag: JOHN GLENN SAID

(ON THE SENATE FLOOR) Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.
This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn): "How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank." "I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day ... to a veteran's hospital and look those men with their mangled bodies. in the eye, and tell THEM they, didn't hold a job!" "You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job."

"You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags." "You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?" or those who don't remember. During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA. Now he's a Senator!

Wait! ... There's More!

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit, there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

The next time someone claims that President Bush shouldn't have started this war; state the following,

a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked us; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost...an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost - an average of 18,334 per year.

d. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

e. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost - an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaeda, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300, 000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking. But it took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a veteran.

Rep. Gibson Helping Anson County?

Part III Of A Series

It seems every community has their own “breakfast club” where the local movers, shakers, and shapers get together over coffee and/or breakfast discussing the issues of the day. In Wadesboro, Anson County, NC for years, one of these “breakfast clubs” met each Monday through Friday at the Hub Restaurant on US Highway 74 on the west side of Wadesboro. Before becoming disabled, I would, every four to six months, leave my Union County, NC community to visit the Hub Restaurant and their local “breakfast club” just to inquire as to what was happening educationally, economically, and politically. My objective was to offer a more positive outlook on Anson County.

Then, as well of now, Anson County, NC unfortunately, has one of the lowest performing school system in North Carolina, according NC School Report Cards http://www.ncreportcards.com/src/.
In high school performance, Anson County is performing at from 41% to 81% of the state level with an average of 66.8%. With these factual results, is there any reason why Wake County Superior Court Judge Howard Manning, Jr. would consider taking over the Anson County Schools and placing it with the NC Judiciary to operate?

Anson County is one of the poorest counties economically in the entire state, according to the US Government Census http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states. The results are:

Anson County issued 60 building permits in year 2005.
Union County issued 3,972 building permits in year 2005.

The median household income, 2004 in Anson County was $29,320.
The median household income, 2004 in Union County was $56,218.

What has Rep. Pryor Gibson done in the NC General Assembly in his more than sixteen years of service or as Chairman of the Anson County Democrat Party to reduce the flight of the Anson County graduated high school and college talent? What has happened to any educational improvement and/or expanding economy in Anson County? Are these educational and/or economic failures due to the leadership? Anson County’s and Union County’s citizens deserve more than what they are getting from District 69 representation. When will they change? It is their choice.

Prior to 1984, Union County’s political process was dominated by the Democrat Party. In 1984, our Union County GOP commission nominees were headed by former Anson County natives Attorney Larry Harrington of Lilesville, NC, and Bill Davis of the Sugartown community just outside of Polkton, NC.

Both, Larry Harrington and Bill Davis were elected to the Union County Commission for the first time in modern history. Commissioners Harrington, Davis, and Democrat commissioners corrected a few wrongs within our local government, and working with the Democrat majority, guided the UC Board of Commissioners and started the development of the now countywide EMS. At the time, all ambulances with first aid training were operated by the City of Monroe. We thank the City of Monroe as it was the City of Monroe taxpayers, if I correctly remember, who funded almost the entire earlier system. Beyond that, volunteers in some three VFDs did fund, supply, and operate ambulance services with some limited medical training. These somewhat rural volunteers must be remembered and thanked for their personal time and money to train, supply, and operate these volunteer ambulance services. Union County still relies on volunteers for their services in the EMS system. They must be thanked daily for their service.

Politically speaking, most of all, Larry Harrington and Bill Davis moved the Democrat majority of the UC Board of Commissioners to more adequately fund our local educational system, yet controlling growth in taxes. That is when the voters of UC then started voting Republican consistently. From that date, the voters have not turned back. They continue to vote for the leadership of the Union County GOP candidates.

Earlier this year, Rep. Pryor Gibson (D-Anson) introduced and pushed new legislation through the NC General Assembly changing the election process of Union County Commissioners. Rep. Gibson’s legislation was opposed by all three other members of Union County’s General Assembly legislators and all five UC Commissioners. Rep. Pryor Gibson represents District 69 in the NC House of Representatives, which covers all of Anson County, NC and a smaller part of eastern Union County, NC.

Anson County Commissioners are represented by seven (7) individuals by distinct district. Voters can vote for only one of the seven commissioners elected by district only.

Union County Commissioners are represented by five (5) individuals representing all the citizens of Union County. Each voter has the right to vote for “all” five commissioners.

District representation creates multiple divisions within our local communities. Collective representation creates unison.

Why should Union County voters choose to change their election of commissioners from five to seven if each voter is to be allowed to vote for only three out of seven commissioners (one by district and two at large) rather than all? Each voter in Union County would lose a majority of their representation on the UC Commission. Anson County may choose to change and allow all their voters to vote for all their representatives on the Commission. A different elective system, a legislative representation, and/or political party in Anson County may lead to a more aggressive educational improvement and economic growth for its people.

On November 6, vote “NO” to District Representation.

Sincerely,

Oscar Y. Harward

From the e-mail bag: Watch Out For Tomato Worms

(This commentary was received via e-mail and is authored by Charles "Chuck" Sproull, Springville, Virginia. I, Oscar Y. Harward, have ascertained written permission to reproduce and republish to others.)

Recently I went out to look at our garden, and noticed leaves and buds missing from the top of a tomato plant. After looking very carefully inside the plant, I finally saw the culprit – a Tomato Worm. According to the “Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Insects,” “Tomato Worms” are the larva form of the Polyphemus Moth. I am not “worm phobic” or hateful. But because of what I know about them, and because I care for the well-being of our tomatoes and want something more valuable growing in my garden, I removed the worm. Their pretty light green skin and texture allows them to blend in so well with the leaves and stems of the plant they are devastating, that it’s almost impossible to see them ... until you to look a little closer.

If a gardener knew ahead of time about their destructive effects, would he want these worms crawling around eating leaves and buds and tomatoes, just to satisfy their own selfish appetite? NO. If they could desire “equal rights” and “protected minority” status, they still would not be welcome in our garden, because granting worms "Equal Rights" would destroy the Tomato Plant's freedom of expression.

Because Tomato Plants are vulnerable, they need someone to protect them. With minimal care by a gardener (water, till, fertilize, support), Tomato Plants can have the freedom they need, to live in our garden produce their fruit. But, it is impossible for Tomato Worms to co-exist with Tomato Plants for very long, because pretty soon the worms will kill that portion of their food supply. So it
would be wise for the gardener to plan ahead by spraying with insecticide, or remove the worms before they kill the Tomato Plants. Or, if there is any beneficial purpose for preserving a Tomato Worm population (eg; preserve the balance of that eco-system) then the Tomato Worm’s population and activity would need to be strictly controlled and regulated.

The message here is that thousands of unselfish, honest people can live peacefully together in a community, with minimal regulation by standards and procedures (laws), and protection from enemies by a small government. People who cultivate those core values are able to obey Jesus’ 2nd Commandment in Matt 7:12, 22:39 (which fulfills the righteousness of Commandments 5-10) by doing to others as they would have others do to them, and loving their neighbor as themselves But if one selfish, dishonest person moves in, then that entire community would need extra laws and enforcement in order to protect their property and lives.

Do selfish, dishonest, domineering people want others to treat them, they treat others? No. It is impossible for them to co-exist with unselfish, honest people; unless there are volumes of clearly written laws with no loopholes, strong consistent law enforcement and punishments, and bigger and more expensive government to protect the latter’s culture from devastation by the former’s corruptions (hatred, violence, robbery, murder, lies, sexual perversions, diseases).

There may not be any written laws against selfishness and dishonesty, and no way to enforce them if such laws did exist; because there is no outward evidence of these inward conditions in our hearts. But there are enforceable laws against the end products of selfishness and dishonesty, the outward behaviors and actions (“the issues of life” – Prov 4:23) that come out of our hearts. God
inspired Commandments 5-10 to be written to protect relationships within family and communities from these emotions and resulting destructive behaviors. These aren’t limited to one religion, but are common sense principles of human life.

Laws can tell people what to do and not to do; and law enforcement can force people to obey when they don’t want to, and can find offenders guilty and punish them. But God’s freely given, life-changing divine influence (grace) can cleanse these corruptions out of our hearts, and fill our lives with love, peace, joy, holiness. When God (especially through remission and regeneration that began on the Day of Pentecost – Acts 2:4,38) gives us “a new heart” and writes His laws in our hearts (Ezek 36:26), this cleanses out of our hearts all the selfishness and dishonesty and other bad influences that caused us to disobey the law, and puts within our hearts a more sensitive conscience and a desire to fulfill the righteousness of the Law. What’s wrong with right? Morality and law-abiding, whether voluntary or enforced, are good; but the righteousness of God’s Kingdom with love, joy, peace and holiness is more excellent.

The "Human Rights Campaign" (especially their homosexual and abortion programs) is infesting American culture like Tomato Worms in our gardens. If someone was selling pretty red apples, but you knew ahead of time they were rotten on the inside, would you buy apples from him? No. HRC may try to look good outwardly, but they are rotten to the core. If they started out honestly admitting to the general public their overall purpose and consequences, would they have been accepted? Probably not. So, they are blending in subtly, like Satan did in Eden (Gen 3:1-4). He added one word, “not,” to God’s warning and turned it into a false promise. This generated the skepticism that is so prevalent in the world today, that causes people to doubt the severity of God’s warnings and reduces the importance of receiving God’s promises.

HRC blends into our society by identifying themselves with decent concepts like "gay" (which used to mean happy), “civil” (which refers to civilized behavior, as distinct from uncivilized, barbarian, animal behavior), “rights” (which refers to the Bill of Rights God inspired our Founders to write for us and govern us), “marriage” (which refers to the totally committed, intimate, caring relationship
between one man and one women), and “diversity” (which refers to various kinds of moral people living peacefully in the same communities and working together).

HRC forcefully demands “gay rights” (which are actually sad wrongs) and desires to legalize so-called "gay marriage" between two people of the same gender. But, so-called "homosexual marriage" is physically and bio-chemically impossible. Two men or two women are just not able to "marry." There is no man who can be a “help meet” (helper appropriate, suitable) for another man, nor one woman for another. But only one man and one woman are able to “marry” and "become one flesh" as our Creator intended, and to produce children, “the gift of God.” Then HRC supporters claim, “Oh, there’s no danger or threat to society or to your children, because gay marriage is only for consenting adults." Only the gullible public, politicians and judges (vulnerable due to ignorance of the Bible, nature, and U.S. and world history) believe this lie. But let’s look a little closer.

"Diversity in the workplace" consists of many factors including race, nationality, skin color, looks, sex (male or female), education, religion and thinking style (rational vs. intuitive, high level vs. detail). I believe “Diversity” is a wonderful concept that can eliminate prejudice among people, and enable us to work together more effectively. God created mankind as unique individuals, with a wide spectrum of hormone balances, body physiology, and brain capabilities, and broad diversity of abilities and inabilities, strengths and weaknesses, and sensitivities and insensitivities. So, diversity was created by God, but He also created moral standards of life.

When we combine in mutual respect and cooperative working relationships, our diverse qualities don’t conflict as clenched fists, or cancel each other out; but instead enable us fit together like praying hands and interact as members of a healthy body. Combining our abilities reduces the negative effects of our individual weaknesses and multiplies our corporate strength. Also, regardless of diversity factors, it is possible, and I believe most effective, for all types of people to live healthy within decent, moral standards.

But looking closer at the lists of diversity factors, in addition to (and located several factors away from) from “sex,” I see "gender preference." Why is this hiding in our “diversity in the workplace”? Does this refer to people who desire freedom to change their gender, or which gender to have intimate relationships with? Looking even deeper under the surface, we can see dozens of immoral, abusive, perverted sexual acts HRC wants to legalize. Looking still deeper, we can see that these acts are causing serious diseases and psychological problems that are shortening the lives of our citizens, and ruining their fruit. (“Schools withhold sad facts about homosexual lifestyle,” by Rick Fitzgibbons, and “The Negative Health Effects of Homosexuality” by Timothy J. Dailey, Ph. D.).

According to a Guide Magazine article written 20 years ago, "The Overhauling of Straight America,” HRC's dishonest propaganda includes making homosexual relationships look as good as normal marriage (“sexual orientation” is a code word for homosexuality), make normal people's opposition to homosexuality appear as “homophobia” and hatred, and make gays look like victims of “hate crimes “so we will feel sorry for them. Actually, they are victims - of deception. These are the same deceptive strategies and propaganda that allowed a small minority of Nazis and homosexuals to dominate in Germany’s 3rd Reich, and kill millions of Jews and effeminate homosexuals during the Holocaust. After WWII, HRC came over to America and started over again. Liberals in our Government and recent events in our Whitehouse resemble the Nazi character described in Scott Lively’s book “Pink Swastika.”

All of this is based on two ungodly character attributes - selfishness and dishonesty. Disguised as good, but hiding in the shadows and blending in with our legal, political, religious and social organizations, they are devastating our American culture. But the same God who gave us our wonderful American culture warns us, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil” (Isa. 5:20).

Diversity is good, and all kinds of people included in diversity can live morally decent and can enjoy the pleasures of normal marriage if they accept the many responsibilities. According to The July 11, 2003 “Federalist” and the “Texas vs. Lawrence” case (that opened the flood gates of this national travesty by weakening State’s authority to enforce laws against homosexuality), this “gender preference" concept is a European standard being added to our American Constitution. Regardless of what’s happening in Europe, in America we don’t need to add perversity to diversity. What positive value is there in homosexual behavior? Therefore, I recommend deleting “gender preference” and “sex” from our listings of American “diversity” factors, and using the more discrete term “gender.”

The very finest expression of diversity, I believe, and the greatest enhancement to diversity in our homes, workplaces and communities, would be for masculine men and feminine women to cultivate the gender distinctions they were born with, without domineering or abusing each other.

In America we need voters and leaders who have the vision and personal character to provide strong but good-natured opposition to the encroachment of all infestations of the HRC, and to protect our normal marriages and our children (both pre-born and in public schools). These are vitally-important elements of life. Anyone who does not have the vision to see these long tern dangers, nor the moral strength “to protect America from internal and external enemies” (quote from American Citizenship Pledge), does not deserve to be in a leadership position.

We need earnest prayer to God every day in homes and public schools, and churches that reach out in love to preach deliverance from sin through the complete new birth in Acts 2. For how can we protect the wonderful heritage God gave us 230 years ago (through the Bible-based convictions of our Founders), unless we continue His unchanging influence in our present day culture? Many Americans want our heritage (children and grandchildren) to live in America having diversity, but also with good morals. “Righteousness exalteth a nation…” (Proverbs 14:34). USA could be a lighthouse of moral guidance to the rest of the world. In 1630, aboard the ship Arbella lying off the Massachusetts shore, John Winthrop wrote, "For we must consider that we shall be as ‘a city upon a hill.’ The eyes of all people are upon us.” Who has the vision to plan ahead and provide the most wholesome culture for our future generations, and courage to represent us in the next Congress? Please call me and I will vote for you and pray for you.

Jon Bunning - A True Ronald Reagan Republican

A few registered Republicans on Capitol Hill, whom like Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) based on the GOP Platform, is an embarrassment to the Ronald Reagan Republican Party, the good citizens of Nebraska, and the good citizens of America. I read newspapers in Nebraska and all across America via the Internet. I understand how the citizens of Nebraska get so upset at Sen. Hagel’s promises in his last reelection have become Hagel’s promises broken.

Hagel’s voting record is so radical Liberal; Democrat candidate for US President John Edwards has suggested Sen. Hagel would be his favorite choices for Vice President. John Edwards can not win an election in North Carolina today.

Hagel is not seeking reelection. While I understand Sen. Hagel served in the military, and we do appreciate his service, Hagel does not support our US Military forces today as America fights terrorism in a global war while in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hagel’s voting record will substantiate this.

Nebraska has the opportunity to elect another US Senator in 2008. My study is that Jon Brunning is a proven true Conservative leader whom just about anyone could ever ask for to compliment the true Ronald Reagan GOP, Nebraskans’, and All-American values.

Preamble For Your State’s Constitution!

Those who would argue that no basis exists for a Judeo-Christian foundation in America, or that the founders did not envision one, need to read each state Preamble. The Judeo-Christian values of our founding fathers, at the federal level as well at the states level, are being trampled nearly out of existence. The radical left-wing of mostly Democrats and a few Republicans, the radical left-wing media and it does exist, the ACLU, and some in the radical left-wing Federal Judiciary, are subverting our own common-sense values. The radical left-wing Muslim community is advancing their own religion with the aid of these radical left-wing groups and CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations).
