WISDOM

If you support our national security issues, you may love and appreciate the United States of America, our Constitution with its’ freedoms, and our American flag.

If you support and practice our fiscal issues, you may value worldly possessions.

If you support and value our social issues, you may love Judeo-Christian values.

If you support and practice all these values, that is all good; an insignia of “Wisdom” . - Oscar Y. Harward

From The E-Mail Bag: Breakfast at McDonald's

The following article was received via e-mail from an old friend, Rev. Floyd J. Wood, Cooleemee, NC. It did not have an original author’s name. It is a “message” which all of us should “learn by, live by, and continue to practice each and every day”, but especially during this Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

From The E-mail Bag: Breakfast at McDonald’s

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, and 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called, "Smile."

The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son.

We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was “smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation. I held my tears as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm).

Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand.

He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you." I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope."
I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give.

We are not Church goers, but we are believers. That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it. Then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class.

She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE: Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS – NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

There is an Angel sent to watch over you. In order for her to work, you must pass this on to the people you want watched over.

An Angel wrote:

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others, use your heart. God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

God Bless you all, each and every day, and God Bless America.

America Support You

To share a message with an e-mail from my friend, Charles “Chuck” Sproull, Springville IN.

Every warm-blooded American who appreciates the “giving” of our troops will want to visit with our US military in Iraq and Afghanistan and share your “Thanksgiving” and “Christmas” message season by “text” and/or the “Internet”:

"Giving Thanks" where you can send your thanks to the troops serving around theworld by text message at 89279.

There is also a website http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/ where you can see the text messages scrolling and see the number of texts that have been sent (45,000 when I looked).

At this Thanksgiving and Christmas time, you might want to thank someone for “your freedoms”.

God Bless each of you in this Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and God Bless America.

Why Is My Political Voice Silenced?

It was in the late 1970’s when I started writing Conservative editorials to the local print media. After serving as Secretary to the Republican Party in Union County, NC, I was elected in 1979 as Chairman of the UC GOP.

In the earlier days, registered Democrats outnumbered registered Republicans by about ten (10) to one (1) in voter registration. Union County Republicans voted sparingly in primary elections, which usually allowed the activist to choose our GOP nominees. Then and now on General Election days, the registered Republicans turn out massively voting for GOP nominees. The local Democrats use to joke about the UC GOP was to hold our County Conventions in a telephone booth; not any more! It has almost reversed on the Democrat Party.

In all my editorials, I address “Judeo-Christian Values” and/or “political issues and/or views” and refuse to make any personal attacks on any subjects relating to others’ personal life. Before becoming disabled, my editorials were limited to from 200 to 300 words. In 1997, I suffered my first heart attack, had my fourth back surgery in 2000, my second heart surgery in 2002 followed by a stroke which left my brain vocabulary “absolutely blank”, along with a few other more minor disabilities, and then as recently as October 31, 2007, I had a defibrillator implantment into my chest. Since my total disability, I have received many Blessings from God in recovery. Additionally, by the advice of my Speech Therapist, I was instructed to continue to read and write more and more. With that, I often submit a longer “Commentary” along with a much shorter “Editorial” version related to the extended issue as expressed.

In the late 1970’s and earlier 1980’s, we in Union County had the “Marshville Home” (now the “Home News” in Marshville, NC), the “Southeast News” (no longer publishing) in Indian Trail, NC while covering the Matthews, Mint Hill, Stallings, and Indian Trail area, the “Charlotte Observer”, and the “Enquirer Journal” in Monroe, NC. While the “Marshville Home” and the “Southeast News” would print almost all of my editorials, the “Charlotte Observer” would print some editorials; the Monroe “Enquirer Journal” would not print any of my publications. We in Union County now have an added excellent weekly, “The County Edge”.

Even in the late 1970’s, we knew we had a message the massive numbers would welcome if we just had a way to communicate with the voters. Some of this changed in the early 1980’s with the addition of Reporter Gene Stowe of the then new “Union Observer” (now the “Neighbors of Union”, part of the local “Charlotte Observer”), a change in the Managing Editor at the “Enquirer Journal”, and the purchase of Jim “The Fox” Reddish of radio station “WIXE”. All of these changes allowed avenues for Conservative Republicans to communicate through the media to the citizens of Union County.

We just closed an Election on November 6, 2007 with two important issues to vote “For” or “Against” at hand. This follows a 2006 General Election with many candidates and issues. For more than one year and through two elections, I have been prohibited by the Monroe, NC “Enquirer Journal”, my local oldest newspaper, from addressing my political views to the Union County, NC electorate on these two elections through their readers.

On one of these issues and earlier this year, Rep. Pryor Gibson (D-Anson) introduced and pushed his legislation through the Democrat controlled NC General Assembly which was opposed by all other local legislators as well as all the affected Union County, NC Commissioners on the election process of UC Commissioners. The voters of Union County soundly defeated Representative Pryor’s newly passed legislation on November 6. It appears Rep. Gibson has elected to become more dictatorial to the legislative issues than representative to the issues of the day. His reason was for a “minority” to be elected on the UC Commission. Current US Census numbers would not support his claim, so he used outdated Census numbers. What else will Rep. Gibson do to misrepresent any civilized society?

Any legislator, at any level of government, who will misuse the facts and numbers concerning any issue to protect his/her own political interest, is not protecting the “minority interest” but in fact, is demeaning the “majority” within the issue. That is dangerous to a free society.

In some instances, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Just as prior to the late 1970’s or early 1980’s, my access as a political editorialist to the “Enquirer Journal” has been denied, as I said earlier, through two elections.

For some unknown reason, I have failed to ascertain from the Managing Editor of my local oldest newspaper, the Monroe, NC “Enquirer Journal”, as to why publication of my political editorials have stopped. On July 10, 2006, in an e-mail, I wrote to the Monroe “Enquirer Journal”….. “Is it my bad breath? Is it my body odor? Have I offended one or more of you, or am I just black-balled in print within the EJ”?

After failing to receive a response within some two weeks, I telephoned the Managing Editor asking why he had stopped publication of my editorials. With that, the Editor printed an older editorial, which was out of date for the then publication. The stoppage of my publications continued. I started sending the editorials to the Publisher. The Publisher sent me an e-mail telling me to stop sending my editorials to his e-mail address. Even today, I continue to mail all my writings to the Monroe “Enquirer Journal” Editor, “The County Edge” which publishes almost all, the “Home News”, the “Neighbors of Union”, and the “Charlotte Observer” which prints some of the editorials, while the “Enquirer Journal” Managing Editor or someone there has blocked my editorializing on all the issues of the day. Others such as the “North Carolina Conservative”, “The Conservative Voice”, and several other newspapers across America print most of my publications.

I find this quite interesting as Paxton Media Group, LLC, Paducah, KY. owns the “Enquirer Journal”. The Paxton Media Group is referred to in the media as a Conservative organization. What has gone wrong in Monroe, NC?

Why have the local daily newspaper editorial management at the Monroe, NC “Enquirer Journal” silenced my political voice? The First Amendment of the US Constitution should operate between the free press and the communities, so long as there are “no” personal attacks, “no” other falsified reports, “no” vulgarity, and/or “no” other illegal activities.

Whenever any member of the media will allow his/her own personal political self-interest to perceptibly disallow or even shadow the opposition views of the facts and numbers concerning any issue is even more dangerous to our open society and damaging to our “freedom of the press”.

For any “free humanity to survive”, we must have open government of a lawful two party political system and all authority must be based on Judeo-Christian values. For any “free society to thrive”, the “freedom of speech” must not be limited to anything less than a two-way street.

“No” To Homosexuality As A Normal Lifestyle!

The majority “lunatic radical left-wing liberal” Democrats and a few minority Republicans on Capitol Hill are at it again. This time it is in the US House of Representatives and is sponsored by admitted homosexual principal, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and followed by nine co-signers in our US Congress on new legislation called Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.03685:). This is just another occurrence where the Democrats name legislation is so deceptive. Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) (H.R. 3685) sounds so friendly and energizing. Again, do not be misguided. It could very much be compared as a man is shopping for a special gift for his wife or maybe his fiancé, you would see a sign which said “Platinum Diamonds”, and thinking it was a jewelry store, you may stop in only to find out the facility is a “topless bar”. Perhaps you are on a family vacation, see a sign which said “Crazy Horse“, you stop in thinking if was a business for the wholesome family to view “Indian history”, only to find out it too, is an “adult club”. The leaders in the Democrat Party on Capitol Hill, on naming legislation, are just as disingenuous. They continue to name legislation which is so relaxing as you see and/or read it, only to find out the legislation is more like a dose of “castor oil” to our citizens with “ole time” American values.

Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA) is legislation to decriminalize homosexual activity, yet criminalize the discussing of homosexuality, and especially in employment. Again, if passed by the majority Democrats and a few minority Republicans in the US Senate and signed by the President, merely “criticizing” homosexuality will become a “federal crime”. This legislation is to make homosexuality “protected” as a normal lifestyle. Homosexuality is not a normal lifestyle. It is better defined as a nauseous illness, if not a criminal act. It is in violation of God’s law. While the activity is a sin, each can change his/her own life, refrain from the activity, seek God’s mercy, receive the pardon, and follow His law. God loves all mankind/womankind and is willing to forgive, if each will follow His word.

The legislation passed in the US Congress by a vote (http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll1057.xml) of 235 to 184. The reason I refer to the “lunatic radical left wing liberal” Democrats is the fact that Democrats voted 200 “For” to 25 “Against”. Republicans voted 35 “For” to 159 “Against”. This is another continuing case as the “Presidential wantabee Democrat team” on Capitol Hill of Reid/Pelosi is failing our Judeo-Christian community; even failing our American values of over 231 years.

This is why the “Presidential wantabee Democrat team” of Reid/Pelosi now has an “American approval rating as low as 11%”. Their “current approval rating of only 11%” in America would have to be the lowest approval rating in all history of political science. This is just another representation of the difference between the Democrat Party personal values and the Republican Party family values.

For all who supports this immoral legislation, I would ask any and all of you if you have ever investigated a homosexual assault on any other law-abiding citizen? Have you ever even thought of homosexuality as being any criminal activity? Not anyone physically attacked by a homosexual would want to be even identified, let alone investigated. Many in the print, radio, and TV media suggest that homosexuality is a private matter. That is not necessarily so! At the same time, these same reporters, analysts, and/or commentators, criticize and even criminalize homosexuality as an “offense” when the attack is on a minor child.

There is little difference between an attack on a minor child and/or an adult. Think about it. Homosexuality, in every respect, is wrong. The “lunatic radical left-wing liberal” Democrats and Republicans must not allow homosexuality to become a normal legitimate activity in today’s society. The US Senate should vote “against” this legislation. The US Congress should rescind their vote, (H.R. 3685) of November 7, 2007. Should the US Senate pass this proposed legislation and reach President Bush’s desk, he must “veto” this legislation. Every legislator who supports this corrupt legislation should be held liable. Where does your Congressman/Congresswoman and US Senator stand on this issue? Find out and take action to defeat this new legislation and/or your personal elected Senators/Representative on Capitol Hill!

God Bless America!
