WISDOM

If you support our national security issues, you may love and appreciate the United States of America, our Constitution with its’ freedoms, and our American flag.

If you support and practice our fiscal issues, you may value worldly possessions.

If you support and value our social issues, you may love Judeo-Christian values.

If you support and practice all these values, that is all good; an insignia of “Wisdom” . - Oscar Y. Harward

Obama, Democrats, and additional gasoline taxes onto consumers

By Oscar Y. Harward

President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats are at it again; attempting to raise taxes, even if it may be necessary to distort the “true facts” that will lead to even higher prices to consumers of gasoline at the pumps. If these tax increases pass, Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats may believe they can obtain more tax spending ability and at the same time, blame the Republicans for even higher, and worsening gasoline price increases.

This distortion of the facts may have been started on Capitol Hill by Democrats in February, 2011 and these twisted results have grown with misrepresentations of defeated final vote results on the “Markey Amendments” H.AMDT.119 to H.R.1 and the House Chair’s rejection of H.AMDT.56 to H.R.1.

The “Markey Amendment” H.AMDT.119 to H.R.1 was based on the fact that Capitol Hill Democrats were continuing to add additional taxes as “Royalty taxes” for the oil companies drilling for more oil and gasoline http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:hz119. The House majority Republicans rejected the “Markey Amendment” http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll109.xml with a final vote of 174-Yes; 251-NO; with 8-Not Voting.

“Markey Amendment” H.AMDT.56 to H.R.1 would have given added tax money to more Low Income Home Energy Assistance http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:hz56. Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT) raised a point of order against the “Markey Amendment” (A046) stating that the amendment seeks to change existing law and constitutes legislation in an appropriations bill. The Chair sustained the point of order.

In essence, the House majority Republicans have rejected “ Royalty tax” and all other taxes that would have added gasoline cost; then the added cost passed on to American consumers. In fact, the GOP is in support of more drilling for gasoline and oil to lower gasoline cost at the pumps for American consumers.

Democrat House Committee Ranking Member Edward J. Markey (D-MA-7) issued a News Release “Republicans Side with Big Oil, Reject $53 Billion in Taxpayer Savings”. To Markey and other Liberal Democrats, additional gasoline taxes to consumers are taxpayers’ savings. Evaluate that one!

Capitol Hill Democrats have been playing Markey’s defeated Amendment as the GOP in support of big oil. Rep. Edward Markey’s (D-MA-7) record may confirm that Rep. Markey is a big-tax, big-deficient-spending Democrat member of Congress.

How much longer will President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats continue to raise taxes? How much longer will President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats continue to distort the “true facts” on gasoline costs? When will President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats allow additional “known quantity” drilling for oil and gasoline? When will President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats focus on lower taxes and jobs, jobs, and more jobs?
