How saddening for NC NAACP President Rev. William Barber II and his NAACP attorney Irving Joyner to criticize the newly proposed North Carolina legislative and congressional maps!
For the 2010 US Census record: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/37000.html
USA: White – 72.4%; Black – 12.6%
North Carolina - White 68.5%; Black – 21.5%
In the USA, and by the 2010 official population numbers, whites represent 5.75 to 1.0 over blacks. By the numbers in NC, whites represent 3.19 to 1.0 over blacks. In my own residency of Union County, NC, whites represent 6.75 to 1.0 over blacks.
With these facts, you would think that NAACP President Rev. William Barber II and NAACP attorney Irving Joyner would be praising the GOP for assuring that the black minority community would have an additional likelihood of reasonable representation in the NC General Assembly and US Congress.
All should be delighted as the GOP majority NC Legislature rejected a plan strictly based on US Census representation at more than 3 whites to 1 for blacks. The Democrat Party represents “bigger tax – bigger government – less freedoms”. NC voters are turning away from the “bigger tax – bigger government – less freedoms” and moving forward on an approach of “less taxes – less government – more freedoms” form of government more closely represented by the Republican Party. Condensing minority voters in districts will provide a reasonable representation in the NC General Assembly and US Congress.
After a majority Democrat Party representation in the NC Legislature for 140 years, when did any NAACP President “ever” complain about any Democrat Party’s redistricting plans? When did the majority Democrat Party’s Legislature ever entertain any “bi-partisan redistricting” plan as this 2011 GOP Legislature did? Did NAACP President William Barber find all of 140 year redistricting plans under the Democrat Party Legislature impartial? Perhaps, his criticism today is likely because of his and the NAACP’s continuous support of the more liberal Democrat Party.
As for my observation, Rev. William Barber II and NAACP attorney Irving Joyner continues to mislead the minority community in their support of the Democrat Party to provide all services, to all people, all the time; and all at taxpayers’ expense. The NAACP should operate and practice politically responsible, as a non-partisan IRS Section 501c(3) organization.
America is financially broke. To save our nation, it is imperative for all to take more responsibility in our needs and other aspirations, rather than depending on bigger government and our over-burdened taxpayers.
