House GOP Lists $2.5 Trillion in Spending Cuts

House GOP Lists $2.5 Trillion in Spending Cuts

Moving aggressively to make good on election promises to slash the federal budget, the House GOP today unveiled an eye-popping plan to eliminate $2.5 trillion in spending over the next 10 years. Gone would be Amtrak subsidies, fat checks to the Legal Services Corporation and National Endowment for the Arts, and some $900 million to run President Obama's healthcare reform program. What's more, the "Spending Reduction Act of 2011" proposed by members of the conservative Republican Study Committee, chaired by Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, would reduce current spending for non-defense, non-homeland security and non-veterans programs to 2008 levels, eliminate federal control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, cut the federal workforce by 15 percent through attrition, and cut some $80 billion by blocking implementation of Obamacare. Some of the proposed reductions will surely draw Democratic attack, such as cutting the Ready to Learn TV Program, repeal of the Davis-Bacon Act, the elimination of the Energy Star Program, and cutting subsidies to the Woodrow Wilson Center. [See editorial cartoons about the GOP.]
Here is the overview provided by the Republican Study Committee:
FY 2011 CR Amendment: Replace the spending levels in the FY 2011 continuing resolution (CR) with non-defense, non-homeland security, non-veterans spending at FY 2008 levels. The legislation will further prohibit any FY 2011 funding from being used to carry out any provision of the Democrat government takeover of health care, or to defend the health care law against any lawsuit challenging any provision of the act. $80 billion savings.

Discretionary Spending Limit, FY 2012-2021: Eliminate automatic increases for inflation from CBO baseline projections for future discretionary appropriations. Further, impose discretionary spending limits through 2021 at 2006 levels on the non-defense portion of the discretionary budget. $2.29 trillion savings over ten years.

Federal Workforce Reforms: Eliminate automatic pay increases for civilian federal workers for five years. Additionally, cut the civilian workforce by a total of 15 percent through attrition. Allow the hiring of only one new worker for every two workers who leave federal employment until the reduction target has been met. (Savings included in above discretionary savings figure).

"Stimulus" Repeal: Eliminate all remaining "stimulus" funding. $45 billion total savings.
Eliminate federal control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. $30 billion total savings.
Repeal the Medicaid FMAP increase in the "State Bailout" (Senate amendments to S. 1586). $16.1 billion total savings.

Heritage Area Grants and Statutory Aid. $24 million annual savings.

Cut Federal Travel Budget in Half. $7.5 billion annual savings.

Trim Federal Vehicle Budget by 20%. $600 million annual savings.

Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program. $125 million annual savings.

U.S. Agency for International Development. $1.39 billion annual savings.

No funding for federal office space acquisition. $864 million annual savings.

End prohibitions on competitive sourcing of government services.

Repeal the Davis-Bacon Act. More than $1 billion annually.

IRS Direct Deposit: Require the IRS to deposit fees for some services it offers (such as processing payment plans for taxpayers) to the Treasury, instead of allowing it to remain as part of its budget. $1.8 billion savings over ten years.

Require collection of unpaid taxes by federal employees. $1 billion total savings.

Prohibit taxpayer funded union activities by federal employees. $1.2 billion savings over ten years.

Sell excess federal properties the government does not make use of. $15 billion total savings.

Eliminate death gratuity for Members of Congress.

Eliminate Mohair Subsidies. $1 million annual savings.

Eliminate taxpayer subsidies to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. $12.5 million annual savings.

Eliminate Market Access Program. $200 million annual savings.

Will you share responsibility if our freedoms are over the hill?

Americans with our inherited ‘inalienable’ God-given rights and freedoms appears to be moving to a lower level. 

‘Face it’!  An American electorate majority has ‘voted’ to turn the USA, our Constitution, and our earlier ‘inalienable’ ‘God-given’ freedoms ‘upside-down’; and away as passed down from our earlier generation(s). 

America is living under a ‘lawless’ government of elected and appointed individuals who, themselves, decide whether to ‘obey, enforce, or ignore’ our Constitution and our laws, as they please. 

America made a ‘far-left turn’ in 1963 as the SCOTUS verdict in ABINGTON SCHOOL DIST. v. SCHEMPP removed the Holy Bible from our ‘public schools’.  Since that judgment, several generations have failed to hear, study, and/or pass along to later generations the ‘Word of God’. As time passed, I perceived a vision for America to return our nation to the dreams of our Founding Fathers and our US Constitution based on Christian values. 

During this same time frame, most regular individuals who practice ‘Christianity’ in their ‘houses of worship’, were spending their money being entertained in professional sports, amphitheaters, movies, and other forms of entertainment, while the ‘lead superstars and movie stars’ themselves, were returning their disproportionate proceeds and take-home revenues to ‘left-wing’ political candidates of election(s) and other ‘radical’ political ideals; representing opposite opinions as these same paying customers usually uphold. 

‘Left-wing’ political ‘movers and shakers’ may have won on ‘Liberal’ social, fiscal, and National Security issues; perhaps, forever while many wonder…. How could it have happened?  How did it happen?  What went wrong?  Was I, or am I part of the problem, or am I a solution? 

Is it ‘too late’ to return to the dreams of our Founding Fathers and our US Constitution based on Christian values?  Most probably yes; however, nothing is impossible under God’s decree. 

Each of us must review our own life and evaluate as to what, how, where, and when we assisted in damaging our Constitution based on Christian values, and our ‘inalienable’ God-given rights and freedoms.  On the differing side, did any of us assist in reinforcing our Constitution based on Christian values, and our nation? 

Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”  

Have we, as good ‘God-fearing’ Christians fought for, protected, and handed down our freedoms to the next generation(s)?  History will reveal the answer(s) to others.

Obama WH leads in darkness, distortion, economy, stimulus fraud, etc.

When we watch and listen to President Obama on any day, anyone with any prior recorded speeches, memory, and/or other experience must come to a decision that as President Obama says one thing today is, perhaps, opposite of his expressions of yesterday and/or yesteryear. 

It appears President Obama’s decisions include lack of professionalism in leadership, his appointments, etc., as well as in improving our weakened economy.  President Obama’s political decisions are near most ‘opposite thinking’ of any and all successful decisions that have been fruitful in working so well for our economy in more than 200 years.  Additionally, we read, see, and hear of catastrophes within the Justice Department, National Security, tax-evasion appointees, and the $831 billion ‘Stimulus’ potential frauds; many involve approving America’s taxpayers’ money awarded to friends and donors of the White House and Capitol Hill Democrats. 

After more than four years of blaming President George Bush for Obama’s failing economy, President Obama is now blaming Speaker Boehner and Congressional Republicans for his own political and fiscal failures.  When will this ‘childlike’ President accept any of his own irresponsibility? 

While President Obama’s friend and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has, in four consecutive years, failed to pass a Senate ‘budget’ as required by law, President Obama continues to praise Sen. Reid’s failures of Constitutional law. 

President Obama’s record illustrates how our economy continues to slump as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics with ‘U-6 Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force unemployment heights’ nears ‘depression’ levels of 14.4% as managed under Obama’s failed political and fiscal policies. 

Additionally, President Obama’s political policy failures seem to be based on National Security. Obama’s team lacks competence exposing failures of Embassy employees, who were under a terrorist attack for seven hours that left U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other U.S. nationals to die on September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya; and without the US Consulate’s requested assistances for help. 

Former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration continue to focus on, not what the failures were and/or what may have prevented these lives, but to repeat that this Administration’s efforts are to make sure it doesn’t happen again.  There were serious failures as if some on the Obama team may have been unknowing, uncaring, intoxicated, and/or on drugs, rather than being knowing, caring, sober, alert, and on the job. 

News reports say President Obama, himself, never had any telephone communications during this time frame.  American servants deserve more than as was provided these four Americans as they were dying in this instance. 

Lest we forget Fast and Furious!  Evidence may prove that several associates in President Obama’s administration, including the US Justice Department, and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) acted in the Fast and Furious plot while selling and/or approving the sale of automatic rifles, shotguns, and pistols, to a ‘Mexican drug cartel’; weapons that were used in ‘murdering’ at least 3 innocent Americans and hundreds of Mexicans. Our Justice Department and/or ATF had devised a scheme in an attempt to blame U.S. firearms manufacturers as scapegoats for this criminal violence. 

There are even more continuing failures.  Are you confused?  From President Obama’s News Transcript on March 1, 2013, President Obama says, “Look, we've already cut $2.5 trillion in our deficit.”  How, what, where, and when has President Obama cut $2.5 Trillion?  Please, show the facts! 

The National debt has increased by more than $6 trillion since President Barack Obama took office, marking the largest increase under any president in history. 

US Government and Obama’s Deficits are for: FY 2010: $1.293 Trillion; FY 2011: $1.300 Trillion; FY 2012: $1.089 Trillion; and FY 2013* $901 Billion (Note: Federal Deficit is budgeted.)  The National debt under President Obama’s ‘clock’ has now exceeded $6 Trillion. 

Lastly, while President Obama continues to promise and repeatedly claims ‘transparency’, he and his administration practice the opposite.  Worse of all, he is failing America and our citizens and our children on all social, fiscal, and national security issues.
