Support Honduras and Democracy

There are times when a free society will do the right thing to oust Fascism, Socialism, Communism, or some other type of totalitarianism government. America declared freedom from England in 1776. We saw movements of this type of activity in Tiananmen Square, China in June, 1989. Then there was a 2004 coup in Haiti. Just recently, we saw a movement to overturn repression in Iran.

Now, we come to Honduras. It appears ousted President Manueal Zelaya was making efforts to extend his government http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominican_Republic-Central_America-United_States_Free_Trade_Agreement. On June 28, 2009, there was an ousting of Honduras’ President Manuel Zelaya http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529885,00.html.

According to the Associated Press, ‘Micheletti's supporters say the army was justified in ousting Zelaya — on orders of Congress and the Supreme Court — because he had called a referendum which they claim he intended to use to extend his rule. Zelaya denies that and has said he will no longer press for constitutional changes’ http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090704/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_honduras_coup .

It appears there may be an overwhelming support of the coup, ousting President Zelaya, as the Hondurans Congress has named Roberto Micheletti President, and he immediately declared a Democracy for all Hondurans.

From the Tico Times, ‘…United Nations and the Organization of American States (OAS), which gave the de facto government 72 hours to cede power. The ultimatum, which could result in expulsion of Honduras from the OAS in the event Zelaya is not reinstated, expires July 4’ http://www.ticotimes.net/topstoryarchive/2009_07/070309.htm.

President Obama is "wrong" in his effort to save former President Manuel Zelaya, who was coddling up to Venezuela President Hugo Chavez, Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, and others of the Socialist and/or Communist leaders http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/news/3752. The Honduran coup was successful on orders of Congress and the Supreme Court in preserving a free democracy.

President Obama must support the majority free Democracy over all totalitarianism governments. That is what America had stood in support of for over 233 years. The leaders in Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and similar restrictive systems of its people are opposed to a true Democracy. I inspire President Obama to reverse his current position in support of a free democracy.

Costa Rican President Oscar Arias will mediate the standoff between former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya and the current President Micheletti regime that overthrew him http://www.nowpublic.com/world/honduras-news-oscar-arias-mediate-zelaya-micheletti-talks.
