WISDOM

If you support our national security issues, you may love and appreciate the United States of America, our Constitution with its’ freedoms, and our American flag.

If you support and practice our fiscal issues, you may value worldly possessions.

If you support and value our social issues, you may love Judeo-Christian values.

If you support and practice all these values, that is all good; an insignia of “Wisdom” . - Oscar Y. Harward

Christianity is alive and well in Union County, NC

By Oscar Y. Harward

At 7:00 pm on December 6, 2010, Union County, NC Commissioners held their first meeting in the Union County, NC Government Center for the December assembly in even numbered years for swearing-in ceremonies for 3 newly elected Union County Commissioners. Christian values run deep in these 3 families. Union County’s residents and visitors witnessed one of the most respectful “Christian” expressions in local government of my entire lifetime as Union County Commissioners Jerry Simpson was sworn-in as new Chairman, Todd Johnson sworn-in as Vice Chairman, and Jonathan Thomas sworn-in as the third newly elected Commissioner.

Each newly elected Commissioner brought their own “old” family Bibles for the ceremonies. Jerry Simpson was sworn-in on a 1944 family Bible, Todd Johnson on an 1892 family Bible, and Jonathan Thomas on an 1891 family Bible. Each of the three new board members, in their remarks during “Commissioners’ Comments”, presented an illustration of their personal beliefs in good government and Judeo-Christian values. Government needs more fiscal and social values in government. As for many others and me in the audience, it was merely an evening of “Wow”!

After the commissioners’ meeting, Spiro’s Hilltop Bistro & Bar provided Hors D’oeuvres for all in attendance.

As our new Union County, NC Commissioners move along with the business of government, you will see a new majority and more receptive approach to the voters’ desires and needs. Union County, North Carolina, and many other locations all over our United States of America are in a state of recession. Many national, state, and local governments continue to spend excessively above their incoming revenues; thus creating deficit spending. Much of these spending habits are about to change, and must do so in order to survive financially. Many newly elected officials in Union County, North Carolina, and across America have heard the scream to “Stop the Spending”, and restore our Constitutional freedoms.

Again, thanks to each of you in your efforts to make 2010 a successful election year in restoring fiscal and social issues and our Constitutional freedoms for Union County, North Carolina, and the U.S.A.

God Bless America!
