"Daily Devotions" (KJV and/or NLT)

"The Judge is standing at the door!" (James 5:9)

Columnist Ray Cohn writes in the New York Times, "I don't want to know what the law is, I want to know who the judge is."
How important is a judge? All over the world, we hear of court cases that are mock trials. Defendants are paraded as guilty after being forced to sign confessions---many times to crimes they did not commit. The judges in these cases are part of a system that results in injustice for the people. On the other hand, if the judge is honest and fair, he will fulfill his role so that justice is served and complaints are addressed.

Since God is the most powerful judge in the universe, we must know what He is like to understand His role as judge. What kind of court does He hold? What kind of laws does He uphold? Is His justice fair and impartial?

Today most people ignore God's role as judge of mankind. They go on with their sin as if no one will ever call them to account. Yet in both the Old and New Testaments, God's justice is repeatedly presented. Look at a few of the times God acted as judge:

* He sent Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden because of their sin.
* He destroyed the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
* He sent plagues on Egypt for the Pharaoh's mistreatment of God's people.
* He struck down Ananias and Sapphira when they lied to the Holy Spirit.
* He inflicted King Herod with deadly worms after he accepted worship as a god.
* He allowed sickness in the Corinthian church for not honoring the Lord's Supper.

As we grow in our intimacy with God, we will learn how we can be free of the fear of His judgment against sin.

INSIGHT

"Men use thought only to justify their wrongdoings, and speech only to conceal their thoughts." -- French writer Voltaire (1694-1778)

"Words, like eyeglasses, blur everything that they do not make more clear." -- French writer Joseph Joubert (1754-1824)

"We resent all criticism which denies us anything that lies in our line of advance." -- American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

"If you ever injected truth into politics, you would have no politics." -- American humorist Will Rogers (1879-1935)

THE DEMO-GOGUES

You lie! "My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I'm taking over every sector of the economy. You know that. Look, we can have a legitimate debate about whether or not we're going to have an individual mandate or not, but ... I absolutely reject that notion [that it's a tax increase]." -- Pinocchio Obama

Except what they're saying about you is mostly true: "Are there people out there who don't like me because of race? I'm sure there are. That's not the overriding issue here. I think there are people who are antigovernment. I think there's been a longstanding debate in this country -- that is usually that much more fierce during times of transition or when presidents are trying to bring about big changes. The things that were said about FDR were pretty similar to the things that were said about me. He was a communist. He was a socialist. Things that were said about Ronald Reagan when he was trying to reverse some New Deal programs were pretty vicious as well." -- Barack Obama

UPRIGHT

"President Obama vows not to raise taxes on any American family earning less than $250,000 a year. Yet he backs legislation that would force every American to carry health insurance or pay a hefty penalty to the IRS. Such an 'individual mandate' is included in all the major health care bills making their way through Congress." -- columnist Jeff Jacoby

"This isn't just about the partisan activists on the left or right. It's about an ever-growing sense on the part of regular Americans that their government isn't just clueless about their priorities and the realities of their lives; worse, they're beginning to believe that elected officials hold them and their views in outright contempt." -- columnist Carol Platt Liebau

"In a sense, the health care debate and the foreign policy debacle are two sides of the same coin: For Britain and other great powers, the decision to build a hugely expensive welfare state at home entailed inevitably a long retreat from responsibilities abroad, with a thousand small betrayals of peripheral allies along the way. A few years ago, the great scholar Bernard Lewis warned, during the debate on withdrawal from Iraq, that America risked being seen as 'harmless as an enemy and treacherous as a friend.' In Moscow and Tehran, on the one hand, and Warsaw and Prague, on the other, they're drawing their own conclusions." -- columnist Mark Steyn

"Iran's ruling mullahs will be delighted to learn that the West not only is unserious about preventing them from acquiring nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them, but prefers to remain defenseless as well. They will view this as weakness. And they will find such weakness provocative, as tyrants always do." -- columnist Cliff May

"Are they agendas for the betterment of America? Or are they agendas for the betterment of the rest of the world? I'm referring to President Obama's policy agendas. Despite how much he reasserts that we 'must' embrace this or that policy simply because it is 'the right thing to do,' it's becoming increasingly difficult to claim that Obama's stated plans and intentions advance any sense of American wellbeing." -- columnist Austin Hill

VILLAGE IDIOTS

Government as parent: "[T]he American public ... just like your teenage kids, aren't acting in a way that they should act. The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue [of climate change] is." --Secretary of Energy Steven Chu

Village victimitis: "We all know that women are more likely to work part-time or to work in small companies or businesses that don't provide any insurance at all. Women are affected because, as we heard, in many states, insurance companies can still discriminate because of gender.. And this is still shocking to me. ... These are the kind of facts that still wake me up at night." -- First Lady Michelle Obama pushing for a government takeover of health care

A nut talks about ACORN: "Everything, I mean, you know, there are boneheads in all organizations. We've worked for them. We know that they're there. But do you kill the whole thing? And I don't think so. A lot of people think that you should kill it. But you can't answer, you can't tell me where those people who become even more disenfranchised go. Because we know the Republicans aren't going to take care of them. ... So now where do they go?" -- Whoopi Goldberg of ABC's "The View"

SHORT CUTS

"Of all the poisonous, ugly and intellectually vapid controversies ginned up in my lifetime, the current breakout of St. Vitus' Dance over the 'racist' opposition to Barack Obama may be the most egregious. Al Sharpton tells CNN's Larry King that decent and racially sensitive Americans shouldn't let a small minority make health care into a 'racial issue.' Someone in the control room surely yelled, 'Cue the laugh track!'" -- columnist Jonah Goldberg

"President Obama scrapped the missile defense system designed to protect Poland from Russian attack Thursday on the seventieth anniversary of Russia's invasion of Poland. This explains why Obama removed the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office and sent it back to the British Embassy. He wanted one of Neville Chamberlain." -- comedian Argus Hamilton

"The president thinks defense against long-range missiles is not so important any more ... Maybe an enemy will be considerate enough to dispatch short-range missiles. Maybe the Russians will help get a resolution through the United Nations condemning Iran's nuclear-weapons program. Maybe Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will repent and find a peaceful religion. We can hope for change." -- Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden

"The fall season is a little different this year -- even squirrels are distancing themselves from ACORN. Because of all these scandals, the executive director of ACORN said she will fire any employee who's 'too stupid to understand they're not reaching professional standards.' Why can't we get this rule for Congress?" -- Jay Leno

The object of the game is to destroy American capitalism by having the government take over everything. Wanna play? No? Too bad, you're already playing. And in this game, nobody wins.

A Common Sense America

By Chuck Sproull, Springville IN

The enemies of our Constitutional Republic are people who are domineering and abusive (who knowingly or unknowingly worship Arius, a Greek masculine idol and pagan god). Also, they are selfish, dishonest and lazy, and desire is to be in the upper class and occupy influential government positions for the purpose of controlling other people. I don't think any of the socialist and communist activists want to be in the lower class and be controlled, but they want to be the controller, which renders them un-American.

I believe Real Americans are people who have been taught (or are willing to learn) the opposite core values that made this the greatest nation on earth- honest, unselfish, ambitious, willing to work with others and for others instead of making others feel subdued (similar to the Islamic concept of dhimmi).

I also believe the next political party to control both houses of Congress (possibly Republicans, if we can exhibit stronger, more consistent, more unified leadership and clearer vision) needs to represent Bible-based moral values that are still in the hearts and lives of many Americans and which lead to high quality of life. And we need to cut of all funding for ACLU and PP, eliminate their porn in public schools, protect the fundamental concept of normal marriage (God never commanded a man to marry another man), teach teens the long-term advantages of waiting to get married before having an intimate relationship, wanted pregnancies (real planned parenthood), teach them how to be ambitious and work for their own living instead of relying on government welfare, teach the English language to all immigrants, teach Bible studies to Islamics, and to work or starve (like they did 400 years ago in Jamestown and Plymouth), drill for oil in our own property and create environmentally friendly refineries, let private insurance companies compete to provide affordable insurance to all Americans let private auto manufacturers compete to produce fuel-efficient cars that are affordable, . in other words, just represent common sense principles of life. I really believe representing values of life will get gain the respect and votes of the majority of Americans.

Guess who's now banned from Capitol Christmas tree!

Forest Service forbids 'religious themes' on 5,000 decorations recognizing holiday

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=111509

By Bob Unruh
© 2009 WorldNetDaily

The U.S. Forest Service has banned the name of Jesus from decorations being assembled by children in Arizona for a blue spruce from the state that will become the Capitol Christmas Tree this year, and a legal firm is challenging the censorship.

"Banning Christmas from the Capitol Christmas tree is just absurd. Christian students shouldn't be discriminated against for expressing their religious beliefs," said Jonathan Scruggs, litigation staff counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund.

"The First Amendment does not allow government officials to exclude schoolchildren's ornaments for the capitol's Christmas tree merely because they communicate a religious viewpoint," he said yesterday.

The organization has sent a letter to state and federal officials, including Arizona Gov. Janice Brewer, who are supervising the program, calling on them to stop enforcement of the prohibition.

ADF set a deadline for response of Oct. 4, the day before all the ornaments must be turned in.

Get the popular Christmas Magnetic Bumper Sticker - This is America, and I'm going to say it: Merry Christmas

The legal organization said one criterion states: "Ornaments cannot reflect a religious or political theme. Instead, share your interpretation of our theme 'Arizona's gift, from the Grand Canyon State."

But a mother whose child wanted to submit ornaments with holiday themes such as "Happy Birthday, Jesus," "Merry Christmas" and a manger scene raised her concern with ADF.

"[The child] desires to convey a message about Arizona from his religious perspective via Christmas ornaments. It is well established that expression of religious beliefs is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution," the ADF letter said. "Religious expression is speech and is entitled to the same level of protection as other kinds of speech.

"The Supreme Court has consistently condemned viewpoint discrimination regardless where it occurs," the letter continued. "Viewpoint discrimination is an 'egregious' form of discrimination that occurs '[w]hen the government targets not subject matter, but particular views taken by speakers on a subject.'

"When the government excludes speech from a forum on an otherwise includible subject because of its perspective, it engages in viewpoint discrimination," the letter said. "Here, there is little question that government officials have opened up a forum for speech on a particular topic – the topic of Arizona – yet have singled out and forbidden religious viewpoints about this topic. … thus, while children may submit ornaments about Arizona from all different viewpoints – whether from different historical or cultural or geographical or economic perspectives – these children may not submit an ornament about Arizona from a religious perspective."

The ADF demands that the restriction be rescinded or the family "will be forced to take legal action to protect her child's First Amendment rights."

Those in charge of the program, including Capitol Christmas Tree Coordinator Richard Davalos in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, did not return WND messages asking for comment.

A public information officer for the forests promised to research the issue.

The ADF said the tree itself is an 85-foot blue spruce that will be chopped down and hauled to Washington. Four thousand of the ornaments will be on the tree itself, and 1,000 will be displayed at other locations.

The Forest Service ornament program specifies ornaments need to be 9-12 inches tall, able to withstand winter weather for three weeks, include a loop of wire for hanging, and be able to be seen 75 feet away.

Also, "Ornament designs may not reflect religious or political themes."

Footnotes or Flowers?

In his August 2009 ministry letter, Dr. R.C. Sproul began with this sentence: "Clearly, the influence of Christianity in America has declined dramatically over the last twenty years." I'm sure that you have heard other Christian leaders make similar statements, maybe you've even made them yourself. It seems to be something of a self-evident observation: this "fact" that the influence of the Christian Church on modern society seems to be waning, even "declining dramatically." I would like to suggest that R.C. Sproul is only half-right though. I think that he is absolutely right that the influence that most of us in the Church would like to have on the culture is declining, however, I also believe that Christianity, as an institution, is still as influential as it has always been. In other words, the problem is not how much influence Christianity is having, but what kind of influence it is having.

Last week, we discussed the intellectual responses being submitted by academic Christians to the atheistic challenges of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and the other "new atheists." I want to be clear that these responses are necessary and are actually helpful to a few, but for the most part, they are falling on deaf ears. Why is it that when Dawkins and Co. release a new book they sell millions of copies, but the Christian response to the bestseller is lucky to sell tens of thousands? I believe the primary reason is that when the new atheists write their books, they are not aiming them at the Christian elite, but the masses. It is not as though the culture is somehow surprised when Christian leaders speak up and give intellectual answers to the challenges of atheism, it is just that they are not interested in listening. For them, the New Atheists ARE the response to what they perceive as fifty-plus years of Christian domination. To the majority of unchurched or moderately-churched individuals, the New Atheists are something of a breath of fresh air after decades of "Christian oppression." Whether this perception is right or not is beside the point, it is how the New Atheists have positioned themselves and many millions of readers apparently identify with it. A tightly-argued response from a brilliant Ph.D. scientist about the intellectual virtues and viability of the Christian worldview is nothing more than "white noise."

I have claimed previously that modern Christianity has two public faces: highly intellectual (which we have already discussed) and highly anti-intellectual (which we are preparing to discuss). I have also previously recommended that you take a field trip to the local Barnes and Noble bookstore and have a look-see at the religion section to find a representative sample of these two extremes. Now, I recommend that you make another trip, this time to the local Christian bookstore (if your community is lacking one, consider yourself lucky). If you can make it through the store without being choked by the perfumy scents that are inexplicably permeating the air, past the greeting cards, past the music CDs, past the jewelry and breath mints, past the t-shirts, and past the Bible covers and car-bumper ornaments, you will actually find a few books...kind of. At this point, you are literally trapped in the store, so you might as well take a look and wait for one of the ladies that work there to ask if you are looking for anything in particular (they're always ladies and they're always really nice). This is where it gets fun (and sad). Ask for a copy of any of the Christian responses to the New Atheists. Blank stare. Ask for a copy of a conservative commentary on the book of Acts. Another blank stare. Ask for anything by C.S. Lewis and when she brings you the Chronicles of Narnia tell her that you meant one of Lewis' nonfiction works. A really blank stare. Now ask for a copy of Joyce Meyer's newest book and her eyes will light up. She'll take you to a shelf containing every Meyer book written in the last ten years. She'll further tell you that she can order any of the other 453 books that Joyce has written and that she can have them by Friday. At this point you can thank her for her time and walk briskly to the exit, leaving without guilt and any intention of ever returning.

Such is the state of Christian "bookstores," bastions of anti-intellectual drivel and highly emotional, experiential trinkets to encourage you on your "Christian journey." It is this type of nonsense, which is being substituted for biblical Christianity, that is having the "influence" that R.C. Sproul rightly laments. Christianity is influencing America, but it's the wrong kind of Christianity that's having the influence. It is a feminine one. Most Christian bookstores are not designed with men in mind because it is women who do the majority of the buying. It has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Any man that unwittingly enters a Christian bookstore will quickly find his way out, thinking that he must have entered the Hallmark store instead. This would be funny if it wasn't so serious. The anti-intellectual, public-face of Christianity is a feminized, pastel-colored wall-hanging with a witty saying (maybe even a Bible verse) embroidered on it. It is a religion of feelings and emotions. It has nothing to offer besides happy thoughts. It is an emasculated, man-centered gospel of warm-hearted niceness...just like Grandma's cinnamon rolls.

This gospel of niceness did not just appear on the scene out of nowhere. It was a conscious response to the intellectual beating the church was taking. The intellectual Christians were issuing good enough responses, but the pew-dwellers weren't getting them. They were too busy sending their "Christian" sons and daughters off to the university, and getting them back as humanists. How could this happen? Hadn't they done everything that was expected of them as parents? Hadn't they taught them to say their prayers and have their "quiet time" every morning? How could this magical formula fail? They even bought a leather-bound Young Adult Study Bible with their child's name stamped in gold foil for an extra measure of protection. Grief-stricken parents vainly searched their back issues of Our Daily Bread for answers, but none were to be found.

The anti-intellectual movement responded by ignoring the problem, pretending like it wasn't there. The books that began to roll out were reflective of the general disregard for reality. Health and wealth became the order of the day. Being a Christian was like an insurance policy that guaranteed success. Jesus wanted you to be happy, healthy, wealthy, and well-liked. Devotional books began to fill the shelves. The culture was having a heart attack and Christian publishing houses were turning out band-aids. The culture learned quickly that the church was no longer a hospital but a convalescent center. No longer was the church actively fighting the war, it had given up and was now distributing lollipops to anyone who stopped in. Sugar-coated feel-goodism replaced the gospel of dominion and discipleship. The church had lowered its Christian flag and raised a plain white one instead. The humanist revolution was complete.

That's where the "influence of Christianity" is today—highly intellectual or highly anti-intellectual. You can have your books with either footnotes or flowers, but neither one will tell you what's really needed: a call to action. Any regular reader to this site will no doubt recognize this term: presuppositional apologetics—but it is about time that we actually begin to learn and implement it. I gave a hint at the end of last week’s article about Jason Lisle's book, The Ultimate Proof of Creation. This book is a great place to begin studying presuppositional thinking—which basically says that if the Christian worldview is not true, nothing is true. Simple as that; no Ph.D. required. As Dostoevsky famously put it in The Brothers Karamozov, "without God, everything is permissible." It really is this easy. In order to argue against God's existence, the atheist must presume God's created order. The atheist wants to live in a world where the Ten Commandments are obeyed, but they don't want to have the Writer of the Commandments anywhere around.

The presuppositional argument is neither intellectual or anti-intellectual. Anyone can learn it and begin to use it rather quickly, but like chess, there are countless strategies and ways that it can be used. A vast brainful of facts and figures is not necessary, but it certainly helps. Most people have never encountered anything like it in their daily activities, so don't be surprised when people call it foolishness. In fact, it is foolishness to those who are perishing; biblical truth always is. God said that fools will say "there is no God." Our task is to show that the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men (1 Corinthians 1:25-27). The presuppositional argument will stop ANY objection that an unbeliever can raise, because it is simply using God's own method. God never once tries to prove His existence, and neither should we. The proof of God's existence is that without Him, nothing makes any sense and "truth" becomes nothing more than mere opinion. After reading Dr. Lisle's book, you will be ready for the next level: Doug Wilson's response to New Atheist golden boy Sam Harris. In his short book, Letter from a Christian Citizen, Wilson expertly uses the presuppositional argument to destroy Harris' anti-God rhetoric and expose it for what it is—foolish whining.

An illustrated guide: All the president’s Olympic cronies

By Michelle Malkin

Photoshop: Paul Croteau

My syndicated column today — reprinted below with added links, pics, and info — gives you a rundown of the Obama cronies inside and outside the White House who stand to gain the most from the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid.

Chicagoans of all political stripes who oppose massive government funding of Mayor Richard Daley’s pet project have inundated my email-box. Reader Will P. sums it all up by noting that the games would “protect the current corrupt structure” and paper over Chicago/Illinois’s myriad woes, including: “Governor after Governor going to jail. Pay to play schemes. Crumbling and outdated infrastructure. Deteriorating public housing. Failing, dumbing-down schools. Hospital cutbacks. Sanctuary city. Never-ending gang wars (outbursts every Spring requiring massive police presence, police outmanned at the Taste of Chicago, innocents shot in the crossfire weekly, current beating video out now). Cemetery scandal (bodies removed and graves resold)…Acorn, Bill Ayers, Rezko, Blago, Wright. Univ. of Illinois “clout” scandal. Illegal preferential city hiring. City inspectors on the take (Operation Crooked Code). Voter fraud. The unemployment rate. Taxes through the roof. Mayor Daley attempting to extend city taxes to the suburbs. All this, and more…”

Daley’s approval ratings are at a record low as he scrambles to lease everything from parking meters to airports to raise cash. Residents are still reeling over the murder of teenager Derrion Albert. But FLOTUS Michelle Obama, on her merry way to Copenhagen, is singing a happy tune: “I mean, you know, most of these Games are taking place blocks away from my house. There’s good security by my house these days. And while Chicago is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, it is — people don’t live in fear. The downtown area is completely accessible…I know Mayor Daley, and he’s going to make sure that these Games go off without a hitch because that’s the kind of mayor he is. It’s not called the ‘City That Works’ for nothing.”

It “works” for the few at the expense of the many. That is the Chicago way.

All the president’s Olympic cronies

by Michelle Malkin

When government officials play the Olympic lottery, taxpayers lose. That has been the disastrous experience of host cities around the world (Forbes magazine even dubbed the post-Olympic financial burden the “Host City Curse”). So, why are President Obama and his White House entourage headed to Copenhagen, Denmark this week to push a fiscally doomed Chicago 2016 bid? Political payback.

Bringing the games to the Windy City is Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley’s “vision.” The entrenched Democratic power-broker – in office since 1989 – would like to cap off his graft-tainted career with a glorious, $4 billion bread and circuses production. The influential Daley machine backed Barack Obama for the presidential primary. Obama lavished praise on Daley’s stewardship of the city. Longtime Daley cronies helped pave Obama’s path to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Now, they’re returning the favor for their hometown boss.

Senior White House adviser and Obama consigliere Valerie Jarrett is a Daley loyalist who worked as his deputy chief of staff, deputy corporation counsel, and planning commissioner. She hired the future First Lady of the United States, then-Michelle Robinson, as a mayoral assistant. Jarrett went on to serve as president and CEO of The Habitat Company, a real estate firm with a massive stake in federally-funded Chicago public housing projects.

One of those public-private partnerships, the Grove Parc Plaza Apartments, was run into the ground under Jarrett’s watch. Federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex a bottom-of-the-barrel 11 on a 100-point scale. “They are rapidly displacing poor people, and these companies are profiting from this displacement,” Matt Ginsberg-Jaeckle of Southside Together Organizing for Power, a community group that seeks to help tenants stay in the same neighborhoods, told the Boston Globe last year. “The same exact people who ran these places into the ground,” the private companies paid to build and manage the city’s affordable housing, “now are profiting by redeveloping them.”

Coincidentally enough, Grove Parc — now targeted for demolition as a result of years of neglect by Obama’s developer friends—sits in the shadows of the proposed site of the city’s 2016 Olympics Stadium.

Jarrett served as vice chair of Chicago’s 2016 Summer Olympics bid committee before moving to the White House, where she has helmed a new “White House Office on Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport” with an undisclosed budget and staff. It’s not just taxpayers in cash-strapped Chicago who should be worried about this field of schemes. Crain’s Chicago Business reports that Jarrett and Chicago 2016 committee member Lori Healey met this month with federal officials at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development “to discuss financing options” for the estimated $1 billion Olympic Village.

The door is open and the administration is “willing to meet and listen” to any federal subsidy proposals, Jarrett said. Hey, what happened to Obama’s tough rules on interest-conflicted lobbying by his administration officials?

A majority of Chicagoans who live in pay-for-play-plagued Cook County oppose public funding for the Olympic party. The city has more than a half-billion-dollar deficit – and just received word that its Olympic insurance policy will cover only about $1.1 billion of the $3.8-billion operating budget drawn up by Daley. Cost overruns, fraud, and union-inflated contracts are inevitable. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs defended President Obama’s all-out campaign for Chicago’s 2016 Olympics bid by claiming America will see a “tangible economic benefit.”

But as is always the case with sports corporate welfare disguised as “economic development,” an elite few will benefit far more than others.

Take senior White House adviser and Obama campaign guru David Axelrod. He’s been a Daley loyalist since 1989, when he signed up as a political consultant for the mayor’s first run. Axelrod’s public relations firm, Chicago-based AKPD Message and Media, has pitched in work for the Chicago 2016 committee. It is unknown how much AKPD has received for its services – or how much they’ll make in future income if the bid is successful. AKPD currently owes Axelrod $2 million.

The head of the Chicago 2016 bid committee is Patrick Ryan, chairman of the Aon Corporation and a co-chair of Obama’s deep-pocketed presidential inaugural committee. (Under Ryan’s watch at Aon, the company settled a massive corruption probe with 3 states for $190 million. More here on Ryan/Aon/Daley dealings More on corruptocrat Chicago Republicans like Ryan and others here.)

Also on both of those committees: Obama confidante Penny Pritzker, who in addition chairs the Olympic Village Subcommittee and is president of Pritzker Realty Group – a mega-developer in Illinois that could reap untold millions in project work if the Daley Machine/White House campaign succeeds.

Former Pritzker executive and Obama campaign treasurer Martin Nesbitt is also on the bid committee – and serves as Mayor Daley’s chairman of the Chicago Housing Authority.

Another bid committee member, Michael Scott Jr., is “trying to develop a for-profit real estate project that would sit within feet of the cycling venue if Chicago wins the 2016 Summer Games,” according to the Chicago Tribune.

It takes a crony-filled White House to raise a Chicago Olympic village. Daley and Obama will get the glory. America will get stuck with the bill.

An Olympics We Can Believe In

by Larry Elder

Close your eyes, and pretend it's still the George W. Bush administration.

In Afghanistan, more American service members died in August than in any month since the war began. His top military commander says that without more troops, we run the risk of losing the war. Iran admits operating a second previously undisclosed nuclear facility. Unemployment stands at 9.7 percent, with consumer confidence lower last month after a brief uptick. An important domestic initiative -- one he campaigned on -- faces a likely make-or-break month in Congress.

What does the President do? He flies to Copenhagen to personally lobby the International Olympic Committee to bring the Olympics to Crawford, Texas.

During Hurricane Katrina, critics accused President Bush of showing insufficient concern. CNN's Bush-hater-in-chief, Jack Cafferty, lit into him. Insensitivity! Lack of empathy! Poor sense of priorities! When the Iraq War started going badly, critics pounced on Bush for allegedly "failing to listen to his generals" about the troop strength necessary to secure that country.

Fast-forward. Americans elected Barack Obama, an "elegant and eloquent" liberal president. And my, how things change.

Iran's second -- now acknowledged -- nuclear facility appears to have but one purpose: to make a bomb. For good measure, over the weekend, Iran test-fired medium-range missiles with the distance to reach Israel.

Obama, during the campaign, called a nuclear-armed Iran "unacceptable." The President now demands that Iran come clean, or else. Or else ... what? Face "stiff sanctions." Never mind that our country's sanctions against Iran have been in place for 30 years. Ratcheting them up to include, say, energy embargoes requires the approval of U.N. Security Council members China and Russia. Who do you think assists Iran in the construction of its nuclear program? China and Russia.

The President, in August, called Afghanistan a "war of necessity." Obama's chosen top commander, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, wrote -- in a report requested by the White House -- that the conflict "will likely result in failure" without an increase in troop strength within the year. Obama sat on the report for a month, after which it was leaked to The Washington Post. He told the general to scrub the additional troop request because he now wants to reassess the entire mission.

Let's revisit.

After we helped expel the former Soviet Union from Afghanistan, we left. Afghanistan became a haven for terrorists, who were protected, sponsored and encouraged by its government. From there, al-Qaida conceived and directed 9/11, an attack against America that resulted in the loss of 3,000 lives. We attacked Afghanistan and toppled its Taliban government. After that country approved a constitution and established a government, we promised to remain until it could defend itself and serve as an ally in the war on terror.

A failure in Afghanistan would allow a safe haven for more attacks and would threaten to destabilize next-door Pakistan, a country that possesses nuclear weapons.

Our enemy seeks to impose theocratic governments in the Middle East and the Arab world. Then it seeks to subjugate (SET ITAL) all (END ITAL) non-Muslim peoples. In July 2007, Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaida's No. 2, outlined the terror group's objectives. There is a near-term plan to globally target "Crusader" (U.S., NATO, etc.) and Jewish interests. The long-term plan has two parts: overthrowing "corrupt" non-Islamic governments and "hurrying to the fields of jihad like Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, for jihad preparation and training. Thus, it is a must to hurry to the fields of jihad for two reasons: The first is to defeat the enemies of (Islam) and repel the Zionist Crusade, and the second is for jihadi preparation and training to prepare for the next stage of the jihad." He failed to define "the next stage."

Obama, despite previous statements to the contrary, apparently considers a nuclear-armed Iran preferable to U.S. military action. And now that the majority of Democrats want out of Afghanistan, the "war of necessity" no longer seems necessary.

The picture now comes into sharp focus. Americans voted for president a man who thinks that government creates wealth; that "greed" caused the current economic crisis; that taxpayers should provide health insurance for those who don't have it; that a government-induced housing and financial crisis can only be addressed by more government; that government can more efficiently and profitably run businesses than can the private sector; that "global warming" requires the imposition of job-killing and price-hiking action against emitters; and that government should "spread the wealth" by taking from those who have "too much" and giving to those who have "too little."

National security is, as always, job one. We are at war against Islamofascists. To accomplish their ends, they seek chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. This is a conflict that, not unlike the Cold War, will likely take decades.

For now, though, President Obama intends to fly to Copenhagen to personally lobby to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. Iran and Afghanistan can wait.

Fox News Has a Van Jones Problem

AIM Column | By Cliff Kincaid , 2009

http://www.aim.org/aim-column/fox-news-has-a-van-jones-problem/

Hill will not discuss how much he is being paid to pontificate on issues far beyond his area of expertise, such as Obama’s foreign policy on Iran.

With good reason, the Fox News Channel (FNC) led by Glenn Beck spent many hours exploring the far-left radical views of White House official Van Jones. The scrutiny resulted in Jones being forced out. But officials and hosts of the cable channel clearly failed to "vet" Marc Lamont Hill, who is being presented to the FNC viewing audience on a regular basis as just "a Columbia University professor" with expertise on a wide range of domestic and foreign policy issues.

In fact, Hill, a self-described public intellectual, is an acknowledged expert on "hip-hop culture," a category defined as including break-dancing, rapping, graffiti writing, slang, and other such activities.

Much less well-known is Hill's record of involvement in "revolutionary" causes, including support for convicted cop-killer Assata Shakur, a member of the terrorist Black Liberation Army (BLA) now living as a fugitive from justice in Communist Cuba. David Horowitz's revelation of Hill's embrace of the terrorist apparently caught FNC officials by surprise.

But desperate to appear "fair and balanced," the popular cable news channel has already given Hill the special status of "Fox News contributor," making him one of the select few who are paid to appear regularly on several different FNC programs. Hill's performances on FNC have been featured on the air for several months now. But Hill will not discuss how much he is being paid to pontificate on issues far beyond his area of expertise, such as Obama's foreign policy on Iran.

On the other hand, Hill did reportedly give an interview to "Davey D's Hip Hop Corner," where "he talked honestly about the types of mindsets many of his colleagues like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity have when it comes to dealing with the Left" and praised Bill O'Reilly for not accepting some of the "outlandish claims" about President Obama.

In the same way that Van Jones was exposed originally by New Zealand blogger Trevor Loudon by using Internet search engines to look into his controversial background and writings, over the course of just a few days Accuracy in Media has been able to determine the following about Hill from public sources:

He called the notorious anti-white, anti-Jewish Khallid Muhammad a "mentor, teacher, and revolutionary hero," and believes that the black racist died not from a brain aneurysm but was assassinated. Muhammad was so extreme that he was ousted from the Nation of Islam because of his hatred of Jews.

He gave a lecture on "The Importance of Ideological Training in the New Millenium (sic)" at the Polymathematic University's "Political Education Program for the Poor Righteous Communist Party."

He declared on a "MySpace" page that the people he'd like to meet personally include Assata Shakur, Louis Farrakhan, Fidel Castro, and Mumia Abu Jamal, another convicted cop-killer.

He speaks on "The Importance of the Nation of Islam to Hip-Hop Culture" and says that he once belonged to something called the Ansaaru Allah Community, an Islamic sect with doctrines similar to the Nation of Islam that has been accused of being a religious cult.

Hill's "MySpace" page features a slide show of such figures as Assata Shakur, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Ella Baker, who just happens to be the namesake of the Ella Baker Center, founded by Van Jones.

The Marc Lamont Hill website includes a graphic and obscene "Sex With Timaree" segment that features advice from a "Sexpert" on how to enjoy the "Land o' Anal" or anal sex.

Hill told me in an interview that while he supports Shakur (his Twitter page is plastered with police photos of the fugitive), he was not the author of an article under his by-line and on his website that hails her escape from prison and grant of political asylum in Cuba. However, the article concludes with the name of "Marc."

There is no confusion about Hill's speaking engagement at Polymathematic University (PU). He is so proud of it that he includes the appearance on his publicly available 9-page Curriculum Vitae.

But PU is not an ordinary "university." PU describes itself as "an institution built on the solid foundation of the revolutionary program of the Five Jewels and Restrictive Laws and the ideology of Polymathematics. In this day and time of intense class contradictions between the world's working classes of color and the white U.S. empire and their lackeys, the necessity for a revolutionary institution that focuses on the education and training of revolutionaries is extremely important. PU is a direct alternative to the bourgeois universities of the old world of decadent Capitalism, guiding the poor ghetto children of color into the new world of Righteous Communism (Peace.)"

PU, which is an institution of the "Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation," has 25different teachings. They include:

"That so called African people and their family (Black, Brown, Red, and Yellow) are the aboriginal people of the Planet Earth.

"That so called African people and their family (Black, Brown, Red, and Yellow) are the fathers and mothers of civilization.

"That so called African people and their family (Black, Brown, Red, and Yellow) are righteous by nature as shown by historical development.

"That the broad masses of dark-skinned people of the world majority are one people, the Original people, who share a common origin, a common destiny and a common enemy wherever they are at in the world."

An associated website is "the web blog of the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation" where "you can find news, reports, analysis, statements and updates relating to the polymathematic revolution happening in the world today led our Party (sic)." It features photos of such figures as Mao Tse Tung, Lenin, and Malcolm X.

Hill's tribute to black racist Khallid Muhammad is featured on his web page in an article under his by-line that includes personal references. He writes, "Of course, many will remember Dr. Khallid for his anti-Jewish remarks at Kean College, his Congressional censure, his bitter departure from the Nation of Islam, or his contentious Million Youth March. I, however, will remember Dr. Khallid for what he truly was: mentor, teacher, and revolutionary hero."

"I love you and miss you Dr. Khallid," it concludes.

In the Kean College speech, Muhammad "referred to Jews as 'bloodsuckers,' called for the genocide of white people, and demeaned both Pope John Paul II and homosexuals," according to one report.

Hill goes on to say, "I first met Dr. Khallid when I was a 16-year-old activist working in Philadelphia. Khabyr Haddas and Hiram Ashantee, two Philadelphia activists to whom I looked up, introduced me to Dr. Khallid when he spoke to a community group at the West Philadelphia YMCA." Ashantee was a leader of the New Black Panther Party.

While Hill says that he and Muhammad had different views on some issues and went in "drastically different directions" in their lives, he nevertheless goes on to say, "The thing that I remember and treasure most about Khallid Muhammad was his profound love for Black people. Although the media attempts to portray him as a hate monger, Dr. Khallid exuded a palpable love for Black people that permeated every aspect of his being. In all honesty, I did not truly understand what it meant to love Black people before I met Khallid Muhammad. After meeting him, I couldn't help but do anything else."

Hill writes that, "Although I believe that his death was an assassination rather than an accident-as Dr. Khallid would say, 'another story for another time'-Dr. Khallid's legacy taught me that you can kill revolutionaries, but not revolutions. For that, I am eternally indebted and grateful."

He doesn't explain who or what was behind this alleged assassination attempt. Perhaps they were the same forces who convicted Shakur of the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster.

Hill maintains that Shakur is innocent but refers in the controversial article on his website under his by-line to the positive role played by "the ancestors" in her escape. This is presumably a reference to members of the BLA who worked with the Weather Underground to free the terrorist. The term "ancestors" has been used on other occasions by Hill to refer to important black figures in history.

The term "ancestors" takes on added significance because it is also used extensively on a website devoted to Assata Shakur, where the United States is labeled the "United Snakes." A poem on the site declares, "Rise up, O Afrikan Ancestors, and let our enemies be scattered! And give us the wisdom and the boldness to deal with our oppressors and those who would hinder the liberation and empowerment of our people."

Polymathematics is also featured on the Assata Shakur website, where questions and answers on the subject are posted. Were all of the "ancestors"-"all original people-Black, Brown, Red and Yellow people"-Polymathematicians? The answer is, "YES! they did not call themselves that, just as there are Polymathematicians out there that don't call themselves that. But the word Polymathematician is a label for a phenomena (sic) that is Universal and Eternal."

There is no available public record of what Hill said when he delivered his PU lecture on "The Importance of Ideological Training in the New Millenium (sic)," but there is an account at www.peacecomrade.org of what members of the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation did when they "participated in an interaction program organized by the Black Student Union of West Chester University."

According to the account, someone named "Comrade Ingiaye" discussed the use of the party "as a revolutionary project against our open enemies," while "Proctor Styles" declared that Black Panther Huey Newton was "one of the greatest and most important people in the history of our people" and recommended Mao's Little Red Book, also known as "Quotations from Chairman Mao TseTung," for reading.

One of Mao's most famous quotations is "Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.'"

In this context, an Internet slide show associated with someone or something called "Polymathematic" includes photos of books such as Negroes With Guns, by Robert F. Williams, a black communist who fled to Castro's Cuba and then communist China. Other recommended books include Assata: the autobiography of Assata Shakur; The Black Panthers Speak; Che Guevara Speaks; and Black Bolshevik.

Hill says that he doesn't support violence or terrorism but has declared that "I believe that my work also follows in the tradition of Dr. Khallid's revolutionary struggle for Black liberation."

His "work" is now being paid for and facilitated by the "conservative" Fox News Channel. He must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Letter to Mr. Rand, Executive Director of AARP

http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2541801

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/aarp.asp

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it's abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own.. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces whom we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage, but even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our 'house', invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them. I DON'T choose to welcome them. I DON'T choose to support them. I DON'T choose to educate them. I DON'T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing. American home invaders get arrested. Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you.. I am disappointed as hell. I am scared as hell. I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

Credit Card Fraud

Credit Card Fraud Schemes

http://clintonsheriff.com/crime-prevention/credit-card-fraud/

SCENE 1

A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings in the locker. After the workout and a shower, he came out, saw the locker open and thought to himself, “Funny, I thought I locked the locker. Hmmmmm.” He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make sure all was in order. Everything looked okay – all cards were in place. A few weeks later his credit card bill came – a whooping bill of $14, 000! He called the credit card company and started yelling at them, saying that he did not make the transactions. Customer care personnel verified that there was no mistake in the system and asked if his card had been stolen. “No,” he said, but then took out his wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep – you guessed it – a switch had been made. An expired similar credit card from the same bank was in the wallet. The thief broke into his locker at the gym and switched cards. Verdict: The credit card issuer said since he did not report the card missing earlier, he would have to pay the amount owed to them. How much did he have to pay for items he did not buy? $9,000! Why were there no calls made to verify the amount swiped? Small amounts rarely trigger a “warning bell” with some credit card companies. It just so happens that all the small amounts added up to a big one!

SCENE 2

A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal with his credit card. The bill for the meal came, he signed it, and the waitress folded the receipt and passed the credit card along. Usually, he would just take it and place it in his wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he actually took a look at the card and, lo and behold, it was the expired card of another person. He called the waitress and she looked perplexed. She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to the counter under the watchful eye of the man. All the waitress did while walking to the counter was wave the wrong expired card to the counter cashier, and the counter cashier immediately looked down and took out the real card. No exchange of words – nothing! She took it and came back to the man with an apology.

Verdict: Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours. Check the name on the card every time you sign for something and/or the card is taken away for even a short period of time. Many people just take back the credit card without even looking at it, thinking that it has to be theirs. For your own sake, develop the habit of checking your credit card each time it is returned to you after a transaction!

SCENE 3

Yesterday my friend Dan went into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order that he had called in. He paid by using his Visa Check Card which, of course, is linked directly to his checking account. The young man behind the counter took his card, swiped it, then laid it flat on the counter as he waited for the approval, which is pretty standard procedure. While he waited, he picked up his cell phone and started dialing. Dan noticed the phone because it is the same model as his, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then Dan heard a click that sounded the way his phone sounds when he takes a picture. The young man then gave Dan back his card but kept the phone in his hand as if he was still pressing buttons. Meanwhile, Dan was thinking: “I wonder what he is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was really going on.” It then dawned on him: the only thing there was his credit card, so now he’s paying close attention to what the young man is doing. The young man set his phone on the counter, leaving it open. About five seconds later, Dan heard the chime that tells you that the picture has been saved. Now Dan is standing there struggling with the fact that this boy just took a picture of his credit card. Yes, he played it off well, because had they not had the same kind of phone, Dan probably would never have known what happened. Needless to say, Dan immediately canceled that card as he was walking out of the pizza parlor.

Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Whenever you are using your credit cards, take caution and don’t be careless. Notice who is standing near you and what they are doing when you use your card. Be aware of phones because many have a camera phone these days. When you are in a restaurant and the waiter/waitress brings your card and receipt for you to sign, make sure you scratch the number off. Some restaurants are using only the last four digits, but a lot of them are still putting the whole thing on there. The truth is that they can get you even when you are careful, but don’t make it easy for them.

Networks Flip Flop on Jobs

Identical Unemployment Numbers ‘Good’ News for Obama, But ‘All’ Bad under Reagan.

Executive Summary -- A study from the Business & Media Institute

http://www.businessandmedia.org/specialreports/2009/FlipFlop/flipflop.asp

Unemployment under President Barack Obama is at a 26-year-high. The last time the economy had 9.7 percent or higher unemployment was under President Ronald Reagan. But despite similar periods of rising unemployment, Obama and Reagan received almost exactly opposite treatment from the network news media.

Under Obama reporters have gone to great lengths to spin rising unemployment by finding “positive trends” in the job losses, even focusing on as few as 25 jobs being “saved” by the economic stimulus package. But when Reagan was president journalists showed unemployed families living out of their cars under a bridge in Texas and quoted Democrats or union leaders’ attacks on the president’s “wicked” and “sadistic” fiscal policies.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos looked on the bright side for Obama Sept. 4, 2009, telling viewers, “the unemployment rate nears 10 percent, but the numbers aren’t all bad.” Rewind to May 7, 1982, when unemployment hit 9.4 percent – three-tenths of a percentage point lower than it would be in August 2009. That night, NBC found people in Seattle in dire straights.

“The lines for free food at food banks are four times what they were six months ago,” NBC’s Don Oliver told “Nightly News” viewers. Oliver’s report focused on the “new poor” and the emotional effects of unemployment, including suicide and battering.

The Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute examined network unemployment stories on the evenings that unemployment data was released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics from March 2009 to September 2009 and March 1982 to September 1982. During that timeframe in 1982 unemployment ranged from 8.9 percent to 9.8 percent, and in 2009 it shot up even faster – from 8.1 percent to 9.7 percent. Here are some of our findings:

Network Reports 13 Times More Negative Under Reagan than Under Obama: An overwhelming majority of stories mentioning the Reagan administration were negative 91 percent (20 out of 22) while only 7 percent (1 out of 15) of Obama administration mentions were negative. Additionally, Obama mentions were favorable 87 percent of the time, but there were zero positive mentions of Reagan.
Networks Connect Reagan White House to Negative Jobs Numbers Almost Twice as Often as Obama: Unemployment stories in 1982 mentioned the Reagan administration 71 percent of the time (22 out of 31), but 2009 stories mentioned the Obama administration only 40 percent of the time (14 out of 35).
Charles Gibson: 9.4% Unemployment ‘Good News’ (Obama) and also ‘All’ Bad (Reagan): The unemployment rate reached 9.4 percent under Reagan and Obama. But ABC’s Charles Gibson covered the identical rate very differently in 1982 than in 2009. Gibson told viewers May 7, 1982, “[T]here really isn’t any good news in the statistics. All the numbers are bad.” But by 2009, Gibson had turned into an optimist citing “good news” June 5 and “hope the economy may be finally turning the corner” Aug. 7.

Some Interesting Tidbits

http://www.waskatenaulibrary.ab.ca/uploads/files/0002/4648/August_2008__Webpage__1_.pdf

• Peel a banana from the bottom and you won’t have to pick the little “stringy things” off of it. That’s how the primates do it.

• Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

• Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

• Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

• To really make scrambled eggs or omelets, rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then, beat the up.

• For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let them sit for a wonderful minty frosting.

• Add garlic immediately to a recipe, if you want a light taste of garlic, and at the end of the recipe, if you want a stronger taste of garlic.

• Reheat Pizza – Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza.

• Easy Deviled Eggs – Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw away when done, easy clean up.

• Expanding Frosting – When you buy a container of frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

• Reheating Refrigerated Bread – To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

• Newspaper Weeds Away – Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

• Broken Glass – Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can’t see easily.

• No More Mosquitoes – Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

• Flexible Vacuum – To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

• Reducing Static Cling – Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and – ta da! – static is gone.

• Measuring Cups – Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don’t dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

• Foggy Windshield? – Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard easer and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog up, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

• Reopening Envelope – If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

• Conditioner – Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It’s cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It’s also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn’t like when you tried it in your hair…

• Goodbye Fruit Flies – To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it ½” with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

• Get Rid of Ants – Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it “home,” can’t digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don’t have to worry about pets or small children being harmed!
