"For royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations." (Psalm 22:28)

What would you do if you received the following message?

The President is coming to your home for dinner tomorrow night. Your family has been selected to enjoy the honor of his presence for an evening, as he wishes to enjoy the company of a typical family.

Would it be business as usual in your home? Would you stop and pick up fast food for the evening, and enter the house a bit late, still sweaty from the gym?

Or would you frantically lead a campaign to immaculately clean the house, cook the best dinner you've ever served, and be on your absolute best behavior?

Human nature would dictate the second response for most of us. Being in the presence of powerful leaders gets our attention. We are duly impressed, and we want to make the best impression we possibly can. Now imagine another message that you might receive:

The Sovereign Lord and Creator of the universe will be in your home today. Your family will enjoy the honor of His presence, this and all evenings, because He loves you deeply.

Can you honestly answer that you'd be just as determined to make a good impression?

"FRC"

ObamaCare supporters are on the run

As you know, the Left is desperate to force socialized medicine on you and is resorting to ugly tactics to do it.

Yet they're on the run. And we are redoubling our extremely successful efforts that helped turn public opinion strongly against the radical plans of President Obama and liberals in congress.

According to an independent, nationwide survey:

Voters say 54-41 that the more they learn about ObamaCare's abortion and rationing mandates, the less they like it.
And Family Research Council (FRC) will keep telling more voters about ObamaCare's radical core and turning more of them against it.

But we need your support to continue exposing and opposing the liberal's relentless campaign to turn the Left's culture of death into national health care policy.

Your generous financial gift is crucial as we build on the success we had this summer and stand up to leftists in Congress who are pressing this attack on your faith, family, and freedom.

Thankfully, we can stop them!

But the socialized medicine supporters know they are losing the fight, so they're pulling out all the stops--including bullying and intimidation tactics and deceptive advertising and messages-in a desperate last-ditch effort.

FRC will not knuckle under because the best way to stop a bully is to stand up to him!

Stand with FRC now to help us keep hammering home this important truth to members of Congress: The more their constituents know about ObamaCare, the less they like it.

Your immediate gift will help flood the media and Congress with the truth about ObamaCare's radical core . . . and reach more Americans with the facts about its devastating abortion and rationing schemes, tax increases, and threats to our liberty.

That's why I hope you will stand with us as we seize this God-given opportunity to continue exposing the truth and defeat this government takeover of health care.

The generous gifts of thousands of partners helped FRC end our last fiscal year on September 30 on sound financial footing. We have been outspent in this battle, but using the truth and creative strategies, we have voiced your values successfully. We have just begun our new fiscal year and ask for your ongoing support.

Please, may I hear from you immediately with a vitally important gift for FRC?

Standing (Ephesians 6:13),

Tony Perkins
President

Parents, Obey Your Children?

http://www.crosswalk.com/news/commentary/11609818/page0/

Albert Mohler

Author, Speaker, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Literary critic Lionel Trilling once referred to "the dark and bloody crossroads where literature and politics meet." In reality, almost all literature is political in some sense. Oddly enough, the most explicitly subversive literature is often presented to the very youngest among us -- our children. Far too many parents seem not to notice.

In "The Defiant Ones," a recent essay published in the New Yorker, Daniel Zalewski argues that picture books for children now reflect a world turned upside down in terms of the relationship between parent and child. As he explains, in the newest picture books for children, the kids are solidly in charge.

In this sense, the books we read to our children reflect the cultural values of our age. Inescapably, these narratives for children reveal far more than a storyline. Indeed, the books tell us more than we may want to know about the tenor of our times.

And Zalewski explains:

Like the novel or the sitcom, the picture book records shifts in domestic life: newspaper-burrowing fathers have been replaced by eager, if bumbling, diaper-changers. Similarly, the stern disciplinarians of the past—in Robert McCloskey books, parents instruct children not to cry—have largely vanished. The parents in today's stories suffer the same diminution in authority felt by the parents reading them aloud (an hour past bedtime). The typical adult in a contemporary picture book is harried and befuddled, scurrying to fulfill a child's wishes and then hesitantly drawing the line.

Zalewski's insight into the revelatory character of books for children is truly important. As he knows, today's parents have indeed experienced a "diminution in authority" that is unprecedented in human history. Increasingly, it is children who have the upper hand in the power equation. Parents, who have been drinking deeply from the wells of contemporary secular parenting advice, have largely become passive facilitators in the lives of their children.

As Zalewski argues, today's young parents "learn that there are many things they must never do to their willful young child: spank, scold, bestow frequent praise, criticize, plead, withhold affection, take away toys, 'model' angry emotions, intimidate, bargain, nag." In other words, "nearly all forms of discipline appear morally suspect."

Modern "experts" like Alfie Kohn now go so far as to argue that rewarding children for good behavior is virtually as injurious to the child as punishing children for negative behavior. Arguing against what he calls "conditional parenting," Kohn came out against everything from the "time out" to positive reinforcement. Writing recently in The New York Times, Kohn asserted:

Conditional parenting isn't limited to old-school authoritarians. Some people who wouldn't dream of spanking choose instead to discipline their young children by forcibly isolating them, a tactic we prefer to call "time out." Conversely, "positive reinforcement" teaches children that they are loved, and lovable, only when they do whatever we decide is a "good job."

Today's parents, advised by the likes of Alfie Kohn, are themselves the children and grandchildren of a generation raised by parents who abandoned traditional parenting for the advice of Dr. Benjamin Spock. The war against parental authority gained momentum throughout the 20th century. Now, today's children are often virtually undisciplined -- their parents having abandoned the central role of disciplinarian due to distraction, ideological intimidation, cultural pressure, or sheer confusion.

In his essay, Zalewski reviewed some of the most popular of the picture books released in recent years. In these books, "the default temperament of the child is bratty." Indeed, the brattiness of the children depicted in these books is often "so zesty and creative that the behavioral transgressions take on the quality of art." Parents are presented as frustrated, bewildered, and concerned -- but clearly not in charge.

It was not always so. As Zalewski observes, "The parents in picture books used to be tougher." Parents used to set the rules, and children were expected to obey. Disobedient children were corrected and (gasp!) even punished. The new literature for children presents a world in which parents are more likely to obey their children.

Indeed, in today's world "nearly all forms of discipline appear morally suspect." Do parents have any clue that it is the lack of discipline that is far more likely to harm a child?

Today's Christian parents must push hard against the prevailing secular wisdom if they are to be faithful. The Bible makes clear (and simple observation affirms) that children desperately need discipline from their parents. Furthermore, the Bible reveals that the faithful and wise parent disciplines, teaches, corrects, chastens, rewards, and punishes the child as a demonstration of true love and parental responsibility.

Furthermore, the Bible straightforwardly presents a model of the family in which the parents possess an authority over their children that is nonnegotiable and essential for the health and happiness of the entire family. Indeed, the faithful parent is the one who rightly exercises and fulfills that authority. In our current cultural context, there are few collisions more direct and determinative than that between the secular and biblical conceptions of the role of parents.

Once again, we are reminded that books matter. In this case, Daniel Zalewski's essay reminds us that books intended for the very youngest matter very much. The picture books we put in front of our children help frame their expectation and understanding of their place in life and in the family. Today's parents must look carefully at the books they put before the eyes of their children. Some of the most subversive literature in the land is designed to put children -- and not parents -- firmly in charge.

Debacle in Moscow

by Charles Krauthammer

WASHINGTON -- About the only thing more comical than Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize was the reaction of those who deemed the award "premature," as if the brilliance of Obama's foreign policy is so self-evident and its success so assured that if only the Norway Five had waited a few years, his Nobel worthiness would have been universally acknowledged.

To believe this, you have to be a dreamy adolescent (preferably Scandinavian and a member of the Socialist International) or an indiscriminate imbiber of White House talking points. After all, this was precisely the spin on the president's various apology tours through Europe and the Middle East: National self-denigration -- excuse me, outreach and understanding -- is not meant to yield immediate results; it simply plants the seeds of good feeling from which foreign policy successes shall come.

Chauncey Gardiner could not have said it better. Well, at nine months, let's review.

What's come from Obama holding his tongue while Iranian demonstrators were being shot and from his recognizing the legitimacy of a thug regime illegitimately returned to power in a fraudulent election? Iran cracks down even more mercilessly on the opposition and races ahead with its nuclear program.

What's come from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton taking human rights off the table on a visit to China and from Obama's shameful refusal to see the Dalai Lama (a postponement, we are told). China hasn't moved an inch on North Korea, Iran or human rights. Indeed it's pushing with Russia to dethrone the dollar as the world's reserve currency.

What's come from the new-respect-for-Muslims Cairo speech and the unprecedented pressure on Israel for a total settlement freeze? "The settlement push backfired," reports The Washington Post, and Arab-Israeli peace prospects have "arguably regressed."

And what's come from Obama's single most dramatic foreign policy stroke -- the sudden abrogation of missile defense arrangements with Poland and the Czech Republic that Russia had virulently opposed? For the East Europeans it was a crushing blow, a gratuitous restoration of Russian influence over a region that thought it had regained independence under American protection.

But maybe not gratuitous. Surely we got something in return for selling out our friends. Some brilliant secret trade-off to get strong Russian support for stopping Iran from going nuclear before it's too late? Just wait and see, said administration officials, who then gleefully played up an oblique statement by President Dmitry Medvedev a week later as vindication of the missile defense betrayal.

The Russian statement was so equivocal that such a claim seemed a ridiculous stretch at the time. Well, Clinton went to Moscow this week to nail down the deal. What did she get?

"Russia Not Budging On Iran Sanctions: Clinton Unable to Sway Counterpart." Such was The Washington Post headline's succinct summary of the debacle.

Note how thoroughly Clinton was rebuffed. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared that "threats, sanctions and threats of pressure" are "counterproductive." Note: It's not just sanctions that are worse than useless, but even the threat of mere pressure.

It gets worse. Having failed to get any movement from the Russians, Clinton herself moved -- to accommodate the Russian position! Sanctions? What sanctions? "We are not at that point yet," she averred. "That is not a conclusion we have reached ... it is our preference that Iran work with the international community."

But wait a minute. Didn't Obama say in July that Iran had to show compliance by the G-20 summit in late September? And when that deadline passed, did he not then warn Iran that it would face "sanctions that have bite" and that it would have to take "a new course or face consequences"?

Gone with the wind. It's the U.S. that's now retreating from its already flimsy position of just three weeks ago. We're not doing sanctions now, you see. We're back to engagement. Just as the Russians suggest.

Henry Kissinger once said that the main job of Anatoly Dobrynin, the perennial Soviet ambassador to Washington, was to tell the Kremlin leadership that whenever they received a proposal from the United States that appeared disadvantageous to the United States, not to assume it was a trick.

No need for a Dobrynin today. The Russian leadership, hardly believing its luck, needs no interpreter to understand that when the Obama team clownishly rushes in bearing gifts and "reset" buttons, there is nothing ulterior, diabolical, clever or even serious behind it. It is amateurishness, wrapped in naivete, inside credulity. In short, the very stuff of Nobels.

Hill terror front group investigated by FBI

Book: CAIR leaders are subject of 'ongoing' Hamas-finance probe

The Washington field office of the FBI is actively investigating the founding chairman and acting executive director of the nation's premier Islamic-rights group in Washington, based on evidence that emerged from the largest terror-financing case in U.S. history, a blockbuster new book alleges.

Omar Ahmad

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, along with its founding chairman Omar M. Ahmad, were named by the U.S. Justice Department as unindicted co-conspirators in a criminal conspiracy led by the Holy Land Foundation charity to underwrite Palestinian terrorism.

"CAIR has been identified by the government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization – a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew," federal prosecutors wrote in September 2007, according to court documents.

Following the blacklisting, the FBI severed ties with CAIR, a move that sent shock waves throughout the American Muslim establishment.

"Until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and Hamas," explained assistant FBI director Richard C. Powers, "the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner."

The 15-year-old nonprofit organization's top executives for years had enjoyed virtually unfettered access to the corridors of power in the capital, even meeting with presidents and rubbing elbows with congressional leaders.

Now Ahmad and CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad have come under active investigation for their roles in the criminal conspiracy to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas terrorists, according to "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America."

The officials could not be reached for comment. And CAIR declined comment. Neither official has been charged with a crime.

However, the book quotes Awad privately saying he thought the Holy Land defendants, who were found guilty on all 108 felony counts, should be "exonerated" and suggested "Jewish organizations" framed them.

Both Omar, aka Omar Yehia, and Awad, who uses the alias Nehad Hammad, are Palestinian refugees who together founded CAIR in 1994 after operating the Hamas front Islamic Association for Palestine.

Specifically, the book alleges, investigators are focusing on the CAIR co-founders' ties to Hamas's top leader in the U.S. – Shukri Abu Baker – who earlier this year was sentenced to what in effect will be a life term in prison for his role in the Holy Land conspiracy.

They say Abu Baker last decade coordinated a secret meeting with Ahmad in a Philadelphia hotel, where Hamas leaders hatched a scheme to disguise payments to Palestinian suicide bombers and their families as charity. Investigators say the two arranged the meeting in a Dallas phone conversation.

The FBI wiretaps of the meeting also identify the presence of CAIR chief Awad, who gave a presentation regarding plans to conceal the true nature of the front groups involved in the plot through media propaganda efforts. Room invoices from the Courtyard by Marriott hotel meeting are presented in the book.

Investigators also are looking at a trail of money between Baker and CAIR and between Baker and Hamas. As previously reported, Baker had signed a check for at least $5,000 to CAIR as it was starting up operations.

But "Muslim Mafia" – based in part on some 12,000 pages of documents collected from inside CAIR's national headquarters during a private undercover operation – presents for the first time evidence that CAIR gave at least $40,000 to Baker's front group in Dallas. Just a few months later that group turned around and gave exactly $40,000 to Hamas suicide bombers in Gaza, documents show.

The transaction was made after the Clinton administration designated Hamas a terrorist entity and outlawed transfer of money to Hamas through charitable donations from U.S. groups and citizens.

The CAIR "investment" (as its internal financial records refer to it) – which represented more than half its assets at the time – ostensibly was funneled through the Islamic Relief Committee, a known charitable front for Hamas in the Palestinian territories, the book alleges.

Islamic Relief at the time had requested more money to finance "weapons to carry out the jihad operations" against Israel and its allies, according to one hand-written missive.

"You do not know how happy people become when they watch those mujahideen," it added referring to Hamas terrorists, "and how proud they feel when they parade in their uniforms and weapons – and the extent of their honor when they carry out their jihadist operations against the Jews and their tentacles."

Just months before the Philadelphia hotel meeting, Islamic Relief Committee had solicited money from a secret Hamas subsidiary in the U.S. investigators believe was headed by Baker and Ahmad called the "Palestine Committee." The FBI says the committee was controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, which founded Hamas.

In a letter faxed to a Brotherhood underboss in the U.S., who lives outside Washington, Islamic Relief asked Baker's and Ahmad's special committee for more American money to finance terrorism operations, complaining its "financial needs" were not being met. "Provide us with what helps us of funds and weapons," it pleaded in one letter from the Gaza Strip. "Weapons, weapons, our brothers."

"Jihad in Palestine is different from any jihad," the letter continued. "The meaning of killing a Jew for the liberation of Palestine cannot be compared to any jihad on earth."

Evidence presented in Muslim Mafia shows the name of CAIR's current chief Awad appears with Baker's and Ahmad's on a list of "important phone and fax numbers" for the Palestine Committee in America.

At the time, Awad lived in Minneapolis where he worked with Ibrahim Hooper, now CAIR's national communications director.

Moreover, Muslim Mafia presents evidence that now-convicted terrorist Baker has met with CAIR officials at its headquarters located just three blocks from the U.S. Capitol, according to visitor registration logs obtained in the covert investigation.

The 48-year-old Awad has publicly supported Hamas in the past. "I am in support of the Hamas movement," he declared the year CAIR was founded.

Like Ahmad, Awad, who has turned down congressional invitations to answer questions under oath, remains under FBI scrutiny.

"He's a bad guy – one of Hamas's senior guys in the United States," the book quotes a veteran special agent with the FBI's Washington field office saying.

Ahmad, for his part, abruptly resigned from CAIR's board after his unindicted terrorist co-conspirator designation. The longtime CAIR chairman, 49, is on record telling a Muslim audience in California that the Quran should supersede the U.S. Constitution as the highest authority in the land.

FBI agents and federal prosecutors "are very actively working to indict" CAIR's national leaders, confirms a U.S. official familiar with the ongoing investigation in connection with the Holy Land case. He says "fresh evidence" emerged from the case, triggering a closer look at both of CAIR's founders and their connections to Hamas.

The FBI's Washington field office is working in coordination with the bureau's Dallas field office on the ongoing investigation. Dallas FBI Special Agent Lara Burns has testified, unequivocally, that CAIR is a front group for the Hamas terrorist group.

A VERY INTERESTING CONVERSATION

http://www.oromoindex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10527

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the Problem Science has with GOD, the ALMIGHTY. He asked one of his New Christian Students to stand and . . .

Professor: You are Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student: Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you Believe in GOD ?

Student: Absolutely, sir.

Professor: Is GOD Good ?

Student: Sure.

Professor: Is GOD ALL – POWERFUL ?

Student: Yes.

Professor: My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to Heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent )

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, Young Fella. Is GOD Good?

Student: Yes.

Professor: Is Satan good ?

Student: No.

Professor: Where does Satan come from ?

Student: From . . . GOD . . .

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?

Student: Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student: Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer)

Professor: Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the World, don’t they?

Student: Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who Created them ?

(Student had no answer)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World around you. Tell me, son . . . Have you ever Seen GOD?

Student: No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?

Student: No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?

Student: No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still Believe in HIM?

Student: Yes.

Professor: According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student: Nothing. I only have my Faith.

Professor: Yes, Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.

Student: Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student: And is there such a thing as Cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student: No, sir. There isn’t.

(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events )

Student: Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, a Little Heat or No Heat. But we don’t have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as Cold. Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat. We cannot Measure Cold. Heat is Energy. Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

(There was Pin-Drop Silence in the Lecture Theatre )

Student: What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is Night if there isn’t Darkness?

Student: You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of Something You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light....But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and it’s called Darkness, isn’t it? In reality, Darkness isn’t. If it is, were you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, Young Man ?

Student: Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student: Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD. You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing. Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from a Monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.

Student: Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where the Argument was going)

Student: Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and Cannot even prove that this Process is an On-Going Endeavour, Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?

(The Class was in Uproar)

Student: Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the Professor’s Brain?

(The Class broke out into Laughter )

Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s Brain, Felt it, touched or Smelt it?. No one appears to have done so. So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, monstrable Protocol, Science says that You have No Brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then Trust your Lectures, sir?

(The Room was Silent. The Professor stared at the Student, his face unfathomable)

Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on Faith, son.

Student: That is it sir... Exactly! The Link between Man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that Keeps Things Alive and Moving.

NB:I believe you have enjoyed the Conversation... and if so... You’ll probably want your Friends/Colleagues to enjoy the same... won’t you?

That student was Albert Einstein!

God Bless You

Fr Eugene Lobo SJ

"The e-mail Bag"

Subject: DOG FOR SALE

A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale'

He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

'You talk?' he asks.

'Yep,' the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'

The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'

'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.' 'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

'Ten dollars,' the guy says.

'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a liar. He never did any of that stuff.
