If you support and practice our fiscal issues, you may value worldly possessions.

If you support and value our social issues, you may love Judeo-Christian values.

If you support and practice all these values, that is all good; an insignia of “Wisdom” . - Oscar Y. Harward

"Daily Motivations"

My mother's love for me was so great that I have worked hard to justify it. -- Marc Chagall

"Daily Devotions" (KJV and/or NLT)

But I Know That's Where I Parked! Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Prov. 3:5). We can't trust ourselves not to shape our own truth.

"Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand." (Romans 5:2)

"The Patriot Post"

"[J]udges, therefore, should be always men of learning and experience in the laws, of exemplary morals, great patience, calmness, coolness, and attention. Their minds should not be distracted with jarring interests; they should not be dependent upon any man, or body of men." -- Johns Adams

"That President Obama has made 'empathy' with certain groups one of his criteria for choosing a Supreme Court nominee is a dangerous sign of how much further the Supreme Court may be pushed away from the rule of law and toward even more arbitrary judicial edicts to advance the agenda of the left and set it in legal concrete, immune from the democratic process. Would you want to go into court to appear before a judge with 'empathy' for groups A, B and C, if you were a member of groups X, Y or Z? Nothing could be further from the rule of law." -- Hoover Institution economist Thomas Sowell

THE DEMO-GOGUES

From the gun grabbers: "[T]he Supreme Court has ruled in a direction that gives more opportunity for people to have guns. We never denied that right. We don't want to take their guns away. We want them registered ... and we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions that people have about what gun safety means." -- Nancy Pelosi

UPRIGHT

"Mr. Obama will make Supreme Court history, all right. He will become the first president in American history to make lawlessness an explicit standard for Supreme Court justices. ... He has boldly proclaimed that he intends to make sure his nominees to the Supreme Court don't harbor any crusty fealty to the written Constitution, or the millenniums of Western law that undergird its principles, or to the timeless truths that underlie our Declaration of Independence." -- Judicial Confirmation Network counsel Wendy E. Long

"There is a reason that Lady Justice wears a blindfold. Justice is supposed to be blind to the race, gender, finances, politics -- and every other 'empathy'-eliciting -- characteristic of those who seek it in good faith." -- columnist Carol Platt Liebau

Easley, Edwards probes under way

John Edwards admits federal investigators are asking him questions. Federal subpoenas were issued Friday related to Mike Easley.
As the separate federal probes into a former senator and the former governor are emerging, Democrats are taking steps to replace the Republican prosecutor who is spearheading the inquiries about the highest-profile North Carolina Democrats of the past decade.

All the nearly 100 top federal prosecutors across the country serve at the will of the president. Any replacement for U.S. Attorney George E.B. Holding, a Bush appointee who has kept a priority on public corruption cases from Raleigh to the coast, will be subject to U.S. Senate confirmation.

The process gives a key role in the decision to U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan, a Democrat who was in the state Senate leadership for several years until she unseated Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole in November. Already, Hagan has formed a panel to screen candidates. It is led by Burley Mitchell, former chief justice of the N.C. Supreme Court who now works at the Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice law firm.

Interviews were scheduled for last week and this one, and Mitchell said he expects to forward the name of a preferred candidate to Hagan by midweek. "We're definitely working on those right now," Hagan said in an interview Wednesday. "And hopefully within the next few weeks we can go forward."

Hagan said any movement is coincidental to continuing investigations.

"The president has asked us to submit nominations for these positions, ... so we've been working on this," Hagan said. "It doesn't have anything to do with any cases that are going on. But we're certainly trying to move forward."

Edwards, a former senator, vice presidential nominee and presidential candidate, has acknowledged the federal investigation into whether any money given to his presidential campaign -- or to nonprofits connected to his campaign -- was funneled to his girlfriend, Rielle Hunter. Edwards has admitted having an affair with Hunter, who was hired to make short videos for the campaign.

Easley, governor from 2001 until January, was the subject of a federal subpoena issued Friday to the state Highway Patrol. The FBI wants records and information related to Easley's private air travel. A separate state Board of Elections inquiry also is under way into a range of activities.

Those probes follow reports in The News & Observer about Easley receiving the free use of cars, free flights on jets owned by supporters, and his relationship with McQueen Campbell. Campbell was chairman of the N.C. State University Board of Trustees until he resigned Friday. Federal investigators have asked for information about the cars and about a Carteret County land development where Easley bought a lot.

Slow changes

Hagan said President Barack Obama ultimately will decide the timing on a new U.S. attorney.

So far, Obama has been slower to make changes than some of his predecessors. Bill Clinton asked all U.S. attorneys to resign when he took office, for example. Democrats this year also have signaled they want to keep some holdovers, including political independent Patrick Fitzgerald in Chicago, who is overseeing the case against former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat.

The White House has not been commenting on the prosecutor search processes.

The issue comes at a tricky time for Hagan and Obama. While some prosecutors across the country have already stepped down, Holding says he will remain on the job in Raleigh until a replacement is confirmed or Obama asks him to resign.

Nathaniel GRIGSBY:

http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/5066834/

Son of Reuben Davis GRIGSBY Sr. & Nancy BARKER. Born 11, October 1811 in Nelson Co., KY. Died 16, April 1890 in Attica, Harper Co., KS. Buried in Attica, Harper Co., KS. He was a Civil War veteran of the 2nd Lt. Co. G, 10th Indiana Cavalry. He was a farmer.

Nathaniel was a dear friend of Abraham Lincoln.

After Lincoln moved to Illinois in 1830, Nathaniel moved with his father to

Carroll Co., MO in 1855.

In 1860, he was living in Norborne. He wrote to Lincoln and received an appointment as a Republican Precinct Committee Man. He placed Lincoln's name on the 1860 ballot. All of Natty's neighbors were Southern sympathizers. He had been talking about electing Lincoln for president in town. One morning at about 2 or 3 a.m. a neighbor rode up and told Natty not to light any lights. The neighbor wanted to warn him that his neighbors were planning to murder him and if he wanted to live he should be on his way.

After the warning, Natty moved back to Spencer Co., IN where he and four of his five sons enlisted in Company C 10th IN Cavalry (Richmond Davis did not enlist). Natty was named 2nd Lieutenant.

The family apparently returned to Carroll Co., MO but in 1885 they moved to Harper Co., KS and settled on a farm in the extreme northwest corner of the county. In 1890, they moved to Attica, KS. Nathaniel was buried in Attica.

His tombstone reads as follows:

(Front) N. Grigsby Died Apr 16 1890 Aged 78 Yrs 6 Mo 5 Days 2nd Lieut. Co. C 10th Ind. Cavy

(Side)Went to school with Lincoln. Brother to Aaron Grigsby who married Abe Lincoln's oldest sister. Visited in White House.

(Shown Side) Through this inscription I wish to enter my dying protest against what is called the Democratic Party. I have watched it closely since the days of Jackson and know that all the misfortunes of our nation has come to it through this so-called party, therefore beware of this party of treason.

This is incredible, scroll down through the pictures.... the last one is amazing.

An Opportunistic Iran

“Convinced that the Obama administration is preparing to retreat from the Middle East, Iran’s Khomeinist regime is intensifying its goal of regional domination. It has targeted six close allies of the U.S.: Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain, Morocco, Kuwait and Jordan, all of which are experiencing economic and/or political crises.”

So warns Amir Taheri in Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal, a much-needed counterweight to the idealism of an administration that sincerely believes in the power of “open and honest communication” to heal all divides. Public perception goes a long way, and with a collapse in our economic confidence and Obama’s consistently conciliatory overtures to the Middle East, the Khomeinist propaganda machine has found new wax to polish Iran’s image as a “rising sun” (with the implicit assumption being that the United States has reached its “sunset” moment).

President Obama and Secretary Clinton should think twice about their current diplomatic strategy. While Iran may look like it’s happy to talk upon invitation, such “engagement” does not preclude the regime from simultaneously buoying up its widespread influence in Latin America, assisting those forces engaged in killing U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and creating a sophisticated coalition that transcends traditional sectarian and ideological divides as the evidence points to Iranian involvement in the Sunni movements of Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and sections of the Muslim Brotherhood, even as Marxist-Leninist and other leftist outfits are being lured into its anti-American cause.

America’s difficulty is Iran’s opportunity, regardless of cooperative appearances. We would do well to keep our radar sharp.

A TEENAGER'S VIEW OF HEAVEN

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2237219/posts

17-year-old Brian Moore had only a short time to write something for a class... The subject was what Heaven was like.. "I wowed 'em," he later told his father, Bruce. "It's a killer. It's the bomb. It's the best thing I ever wrote.." It also was the last.

Brian Moore died May 27, 1997, the day after Memorial Day. He was driving home from a friend's house when his car went off Bulen-Pierce Road in Pickaway County and struck a utility pole. He emerged from the wreck unharmed but stepped on a downed power line and was electrocuted..

The Moores' framed a copy of Brian's essay and hung it among the family portraits in the living room. "I think God used him to make a point.. I think we were meant to find it and make something out of it," Mrs. Moore said of the essay.. She and her husband want to share their son's vision of life after death. "I'm happy for Brian.

I know he's in heaven. I know I'll see him.."

Brian's Essay: "The Room..."

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found myself in the room. There were no distinguishing features except for the one wall covered with small index card files. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author or subject in alphabetical order. But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and seemingly endless in either direction, had very different headings. As I drew near the wall of files, the first to catch my attention was one that read 'Girls I have liked.' I opened it and began flipping through the cards. I quickly shut it, shocked to realize that I recognized the names written on each one. And then without being told, I knew exactly where I was.

This lifeless room with its small files was a crude catalog system for my life. Here were written the actions of my every moment, big and small, in a detail my memory couldn't match. A sense of wonder and curiosity, coupled with horror, stirred within me as I began randomly opening files and exploring their content. Some brought joy and sweet memories; others a sense of shame and regret so intense that I would look over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching.

A file named 'Friends' was next to one marked 'Friends I have betrayed.' The titles ranged from the mundane to the outright weird 'Books I Have Read,' 'Lies I Have Told,' 'Comfort I have Given,' 'Jokes I Have Laughed at ..' Some were almost hilarious in their exactness: 'Things I've yelled at my brothers.' Others I couldn't laugh at: 'Things I Have Done in My Anger', 'Things I Have Muttered Under My Breath at My Parents.' I never ceased to be surprised by the contents.

Often there were many more cards than I expected. Sometimes fewer than I hoped.. I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the life I had lived. Could it be possible that I had the time in my years to fill each of these thousands or even millions of cards? But each card confirmed this truth. Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with my signature.

When I pulled out the file marked 'TV Shows I have watched', I realized the files grew to contain their contents. The cards were packed tightly, and yet after two or three yards, I hadn't found the end of the file. I shut it, shamed, not so much by the quality of shows but more by the vast time I knew that file represented.

When I came to a file marked 'Lustful Thoughts,' I felt a chill run through my body. I pulled the file out only an inch, not willing to test its size and drew out a card. I shuddered at its detailed content.

I felt sick to think that such a moment had been recorded. An almost animal rage broke on me.. One thought dominated my mind: No one must ever see these cards! No one must ever see this room! I have to destroy them!' In insane frenzy I yanked the file out. Its size didn't matter now. I had to empty it and burn the cards.. But as I took it at one end and began pounding it on the floor, I could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when I tried to tear it.

Defeated and utterly helpless, I returned the file to its slot. Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a long, self-pitying sigh.

And then I saw it.. The title bore 'People I Have Shared the Gospel With.' The handle was brighter than those around it, seemed newer, almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box not more than three inches long fell into my hands. I could count the cards it contained on one hand.

And then the tears came. I began to weep. Sobs so deep that they hurt.. They started in my stomach and shook through me. I fell on my knees and cried. I cried out of shame, from the overwhelming shame of it all. The rows of file shelves swirled in my tear-filled eyes. No one must ever, ever know of this room. I must lock it up and hide the key. But then as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him.

No, please not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read the cards.. I couldn't bear to watch His response. And in the moments I could bring myself to look at His face, I saw a sorrow deeper than my own.

He seemed to intuitively go to the worst boxes. Why did He have to read every one? Finally He turned and looked at me from across the room.. He looked at me with pity in His eyes. But this was a pity that didn't anger me. I dropped my head, covered my face with my hands, and I began to cry again. He walked over and put His arm around me. He could have said so many things. But He didn't say a word. He just cried with me..

Then He got up and walked back to the wall of files. Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and, one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each card. 'No!' I shouted rushing to Him. All I could find to say was 'No, no,' as I pulled the card from Him. His name shouldn't be on these cards. But there it was, written in red so rich, so dark, so alive. The name of Jesus covered mine. It was written with His blood. He gently took the card back.. He smiled a sad smile and began to sign the cards. I don't think I'll ever understand how He did it so quickly, but the next instant it seemed I heard Him close the last file and walk back to my side.

He placed His hand on my shoulder and said, 'It is finished.' I stood up, and He led me out of the room.. There was no lock on its door. There were still cards to be written.

'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. '-Phil. 4:13 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.' If you feel the same way forward it so the love of Jesus will touch their lives also.. My 'People I shared the gospel with' file just got bigger, how about yours

Click It or Ticket — Save Your Money and Your Life

From May 18 to May 31, local police will join with fellow law enforcement officers nationwide to step up seat belt enforcement in support of the 2009 Click It or Ticket national mobilization.

Look for police to be out on the streets, conducting checkpoints or zero-tolerance seat belt enforcement across the State and across the country — both day and night. This means that if you are stopped by the police, and you aren’t wearing a seat belt — either as a driver or a passenger — you’re going to get a ticket.

You may not know this, but as a teenager you are more likely to die or become disabled or disfigured in a car crash than at any other time in your life. However, wearing your seat belt is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in any crash.

So buckle up every trip, every time. And make sure everyone in your vehicle does the same. You’ll save money on a fine and possibly save your life — and the life of a friend, too.

Plus, buckling a seat belt only takes about two seconds. So remember: Click It or Ticket!

The Duck and the Devil

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target.

Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes."

But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper."

Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done, the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.). Whatever it is, you need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.
