Success is not measured by what a person accomplishes, but by the opposition they have encountered, and the courage with which they have. -- Orison Swett Marden

"Daily Devotions" (KJV and/or NLT)

"And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus." (Hebrews 10:19)

In Old Testament times the Israelites worshipped God in a tabernacle, which pictured God's holiness and His separation from sinful mankind. Any priest who entered God's tabernacle first had to sacrifice an animal on the Brazen Altar to atone for sin. Next was the Laver in which the priest washed his hands and feet before he appeared before the Lord---once again a symbol of our need for cleansing from sin.

The tabernacle had three sections: the large area of service, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies.

The Holy of Holies was the place where God's presence resided. It was hidden from view by a curtain so heavy that it took four men to move it. Only the High Priest was allowed to enter this place---and only once a year---to offer sacrifices for his own sins and the sins of the people. If anyone else tried, God would strike him dead.

Why was the place of God's presence in the tabernacle hidden from view? Because God is so holy that no one can look upon His glory and live. No one can approach our holy God without a sacrifice of blood to atone for sin.

This was the reason for Jesus, the Lamb of God, and His sacrifice on the cross. The only thing that can satisfy the judgment of sin demanded by God's holiness is the shedding of pure, innocent blood. And only Jesus' blood met this high standard.

"The Patriot Post"

"The Constitution ... is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary which they may twist and shape into any form they please." -- Thomas Jefferson

"The Supreme Court of the United States is the custodian of our Constitution. Justices of the Supreme Court must not only be jurists of the highest competence; they must be attentive to the specific rights guaranteed in our Constitution and proper role of the courts in our democratic system. ...[J]udges' personal preferences and values should not be part of their constitutional interpretations. The guiding principle of judicial restraint recognizes that under the Constitution it is the exclusive province of the legislatures to enact laws and the role of the courts to interpret them." -- Ronald Reagan

CULTURE

"A judge with highfalutin' notions about what's right and what's wrong isn't going to let The People get away with contradicting him. He'll take broadsword to a law he doesn't like (e.g., the old, pre-Roe v. Wade abortion statutes), or he'll put under his personal authority an entire public school system he sees as needing improvement in specific ways. .... The irony in the Sotomayor case, of course, is that a president elected by a majority vote proposes to seat on the Supreme Court a woman he seems to value for her ability to ignore trifles like the will of the majority, or social peace, or a law's actual meaning. The liberal -- and Obama is a liberal -- theory of judging involves the use of courts to do quickly what democratic debate, being unwieldy, can't accomplish. The judge whose place she will take, David Souter ... was himself a sort of empathizing, let's-move-the-ball-forward kind of judge. Sonia Sotomayor won't immediately change the tenor of discussion and judgment on the court, but assuming the President reads her rightly she will certainly try. As will all future Obama candidates for the court we may yet rename the Society for the Advancement of Empathy in America." -- columnist William Murchison

GOVERNMENT - A "must" read!

"The other day I sought a respite from current events by re-reading some of the writings of 18th century British statesman Edmund Burke. But it was not nearly as big an escape as I had thought it would be. When Burke wrote of his apprehension about 'new power in new persons,' I could not help think of the new powers that have been created by which a new President of the United States -- a man with zero experience in business -- can fire the head of General Motors and tell banks how to run their businesses. Not only is Barack Obama new to the presidency, he is new to running any organization. One of Burke's fears was that 'we may place our confidence in the virtue of those who have never been tried.' ... People who don't like 'the rich' or 'big business' or the banks may be happy that President Obama is sticking it to them. But such arbitrary powers can be turned on anybody. As Robert Burns said: 'Send not to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee.' There was a lot of wisdom in the 18th century. The Constitution of the United States set out to limit the powers of the federal government but judges have greatly eroded those limitations over the years and the dispensing of bailout money has allowed the Obama administration to exercise powers that the Constitution never gave them." -- Hoover Institution economist Thomas Sowell

Psalm 23 - The Lord is my shepherd.

A Psalm of David.

1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

I. The Lord is my Shepherd

That is Our Relationship with the Lord!
(John 10:11 KJV) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

(1 Pet 2:25 KJV) For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
1 Pet 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
(John 1:12 KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

(Psa 37:25 KJV) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
(1 Th 5:23 KJV) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

III. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures

That's entering into His Rest!
(Mat 11:28 KJV) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Heb 4:9 KJV) There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
A. When Jesus felt overwhelmed he said to his disciples, "Come away for awhile and rest."

IV. He leadeth me beside the still waters

That's God’s wonderful Refreshment! A cloud by day and fire by night!
(1 Kings 13:7 KJV) And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.
(John 14:27 KJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
38. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

V. He restoreth my soul,

That's speaks of His Healing in every area of our lives!
(Psalms 103:3 KJV) Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

VI. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness

That's His Leading and Guidance in our lives!
(Rom 8:14 KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(Isa 40:11 KJV) He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

VII. For His namesake

That's His Purpose of our lives and personal Ministries!
(2 Tim 4:8 KJV) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

B. We are called by His Name. II Cron. 7:14-15,

VIII. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

That's Our Testing! (REMEMBER HE DID NOT DIE IN THE VALLEY)
(1 Cor 10:13 KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
A. Under His Shadow, no fear! Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

IX. I will fear no evil!

That's God’s Divine Protection!
(Rom 8:31 KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? READ THE 91ST PSALM

XI. Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me

That's Speaks of His Loving Discipline!
Job 36:10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. 11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. 12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

B. Discipline ... is to strengthen and restore, not condemn or destroy.
C. Discipline is the other side of discipleship.

XII. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies

C. Vision is the world's most desperate need. There are no hopeless situations, only people who think hopelessly.

XIII. Thou annointest my head with oil,

That's Speaks of our need for Consecration!
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
A. Nobody cares? They don't have to as long as you do.
B. There is a perfect freedom for people who do the work they want to do and live by that work
C. God often uses small matches to light great torches.
D. Do the right thing--you will please some people and astonish the rest.
E. The best angle to approach a problem is the try-angle.

XIV. My cup runneth over,

That's His overflowing Abundance to us!
(John 10:10 KJV) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
A. He is the God who is more than enough!

XV. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

This is God’s Continuing Day after Day Blessings!
(Eph 1:3 KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
(Acts 2:46 KJV) And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

XVI. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord,

That's God’s Security!
(John 10:28 KJV) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:29 KJV) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

XVII. Forever!!!!!

That Speaks of Eternity!
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

W. A. Criswell said, "We're all fascinated with the future because that is where we will live the rest of our lives."

Face it; the Lord is crazy about you. What is most valuable is not WHAT we have in our lives, but WHOM we have in our lives!

God bless you and yours!

Gingrich's Group Offers 12 Solutions for America

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich's political organization is offering 12 steps America should take to get the nation "back on the path to prosperity."

Gingrich is general chairman of American Solutions for Winning the Future, which he founded in 2007. The group has taken out a full-page ad in USA Today headlined "12 American Solutions for Jobs and Prosperity."

The ad, signed by hundreds of people from around the country, criticizes the "failed Washington model of bailouts, deficit spending and a bloated federal bureaucracy," and calls on President Obama and Congress to act immediately on these 12 measures:

Create a payroll tax credit to help workers and small businesses.
Cut the 25 percent marginal tax rate to 15 percent.
Reduce the business tax rate.
Stabilize housing prices by providing tax credits so responsible home buyers can avoid foreclosures.
Control federal spending and move to a balanced budget.
End Medicare fraud by requiring states to adopt anti-theft and anti-fraud measures.
Develop more American energy.
Abolish taxes on capital gains.
Protect workers' right to vote in a secret ballot before being forced to join a union.
Replace the Sarbanes-Oxley law regulating corporations' accounting practices.
Abolish the death tax.
Invest in infrastructure, including a new electric grid.

Obama Reverses Bush Rule: Illegals Now Get Lawyer

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration has reversed a rule issued in the last days of the Bush administration that said immigrants facing deportation do not have an automatic right to an effective lawyer.

Attorney General Eric Holder says he is vacating the order, issued by predecessor Michael Mukasey, and instructing the Justice Department to study whether a new rule is needed.

Mukasey had issued a 33-page decision in January saying the Constitution does not entitle someone facing deportation to have a case reopened based upon shoddy work by a lawyer. Mukasey said the Justice Department does have the discretion to reopen such cases if it wishes to do so.

Immigrant rights groups had criticized the Mukasey decision.

I want to just share some headlines with you from this week:

USA TODAY: Budget deficit hits record for May of $189.7B
WASHINGTON POST: Spending Stimulus Money Takes Money
BLOOMBERG: Obama Tells American Businesses to Drop Dead
GLOBE AND MAIL: Apocalyptic rhetoric aside, GM bailout is a bad idea

If you didn't recognize the name of that last newspaper it is because that newspaper is in Canada. Even our neighbors to the north are questioning the actions of the Obama administration.

Money has been flying out the door of the White House and it is imperiling our long term economic recovery, our financial stability and the children and grandchildren of this nation, who as adults will continue to pay this debt.

It is a troubling time in America.

Now we have even more troubling news. Despite statements to the contrary, there is discussion in Washington about liberal Democrats proposing a second stimulus package. Yes, more huge government spending on top of what is already being done.

ACU cannot sit back and allow billions more to be wasted. We need your help.

HELP SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: DO NOT PASS ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT, WASTEFUL, BILLION-DOLLAR STIMULUS SPENDING PACKAGE

Even as he signed the first wasteful $787 billion stimulus package, as the NEW YORK TIMES reported, Obama didn't rule out more. In fact, his spokesman Robert Gibbs said while "there are no particular plans at this point for a second stimulus package. I wouldn't foreclose it."

This was followed a few weeks later by calls from Nancy Pelosi to leave the door open to more stimulus spending. As FOX NEWS reported, Pelosi said Congress needs to "keep the door open" to a another stimulus package -- raising the question of how much the government could eventually spend on top of the $787 billion already allocated to rescue the country from dire economic straits.

Now with the economy continuing to struggle and unemployment still at high levels and having risen under Obama's reign, some liberals are calling for more.

Apparently to the liberals, the $787 billion that has saddled us, our children and grandchildren with debt for years to come just isn't enough. They want to spend more.

HELP SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: DO NOT PASS ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT, WASTEFUL, BILLION-DOLLAR STIMULUS SPENDING PACKAGE

Brit Hume of FOX NEWS recently said, "President Obama's order to his Cabinet secretaries today to spend that stimulus money faster was an acknowledgement of reality. The stimulus is not working."
He added, "Unfortunately for Mr. Obama, he and his team made some extravagant predictions about the effect of their stimulus spend fest, claiming that it would keep the unemployment rate from ever getting above eight percent. It is now nearly 9.5 percent, and climbing."

The Obama administration is trying to tamp down reports that the first stimulus is not working. They are urging Americans to give them more time. However, more time will not fix a policy that is broken.

USA TODAY reported just last week that one economist who has advised Obama at the White House, Harvard University's Kenneth Rogoff, said it was, "inconceivable" that there won't be a second stimulus about as big as the $787 billion legislation passed earlier this year.

We have to work together to fight back.

HELP SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: DO NOT PASS ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT, WASTEFUL, BILLION-DOLLAR STIMULUS SPENDING PACKAGE

Just as ACU predicted this huge spending program is not working and it is wasting billions of dollars of taxpayer's money.

Vice President Joe Biden himself admitted as much. Last week when the ASSOCIATED PRESS reported Biden said some waste was inevitable and that a team of federal auditors had already uncovered problematic projects. "People are being scammed already."

However, "some waste" does not even begin to describe what we have learned. FOX NEWS reported dead people are being sent stimulus checks.

The Social Security Administration said checks mistakenly went to dead people because the agency had no record of their death. Total waste from sending dead people 8,000 - 10,000 checks is yet to be determined, but it will be in the millions of dollars.

Where else has some of the money gone so far? $5 million for the removal of pine trees killed by bark beetles in Colorado. $550,000 to build a skateboarding park and renovate tennis and basketball courts in Rhode Island. And, even worse, $850,000 for a backup runway for an airport in Democrat Congressman John Murtha's home district which has only six commercial flights a week.

HELP SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: DO NOT PASS ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT, WASTEFUL, BILLION-DOLLAR STIMULUS SPENDING PACKAGE

Today the WASHINGTON POST reported that government agencies were spending huge amounts of money just to send out money from the stimulus program.

This included spending by the Health Resources and Services Administration which hired 134 people and spent $326,000 on new workstations at its offices just to process stimulus monies. Another agency set up just to monitor the stimulus spent another $204,000 in taxpayer money just to outfit its office.

House Republican Leader John Boehner said Friday that the administration was "ripping off the American people."

Senator Richard Shelby said as a result the deficits being produced represent the "most serious" the country has ever seen. He said, "I can tell you if we get to a $20 trillion debt, this country -- and we're headed down that road -- our ability to pay and service that debt is going to be questioned all over the world," he said.

We agree and we must fight back.

SIGN THE ACU PETITION HERE AND NOW, SUPPORT ACU IN THIS EFFORT. HELP SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: DO NOT PASS ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT, WASTEFUL, BILLION-DOLLAR STIMULUS SPENDING PACKAGE.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dennis Whitfield
Executive Vice President

From God’s Garden
By Windy

It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish….. all before making a human.

He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow learners…

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys…

Celery, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Palin: Letterman owes women an apology

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Sarah Palin says comedian David Letterman owes an apology to young women across the country for his joke about her daughter.

The Alaska governor appeared on NBC's Today show Friday, insisting that Letterman "apologize to young women" for a joke he made on the air about one of her teen-age daughters. Letterman admitted on his show that his wisecrack about a theoretical statutory rape of one of Palin's daughters was in bad taste, but didn't go further. Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate last year, said Friday that isn't good enough.

Letterman had joked that a Palin girl "was knocked up" by a player at a New York Yankees baseball game. He seemed to be referring to 18-year-old Bristol Palin, an unwed mother. But it was her 14-year-old sister Willow who was at the game with family members.

During her appearance on NBC today, Sarah Palin said she thought it was "a degrading comment about a young woman. And I would hope that people would start really rising up and not accepting this."

The governor said "it's no wonder girls have such low self-esteem in America when a comedian can make a remark like this."

Dear David Letterman (commentary by Michelle Malkin)

A man is recovering from surgery when the Surgical Nurse appears and asks him how he is feeling. 'I'm O. K. but I didn't like the four letter-words the doctor used in surgery,' he answered.

'What did he say,' asked the nurse.

'Oops!'

While shopping for vacation clothes, my husband and I passed a display of bathing suits.. It had been at least ten years and twenty pounds since I had even considered buying a bathing suit, so I sought my husband's advice.

'What do you think?' I asked. 'Should I get a bikini or an all-in-one?'

Better get a bikini,' he replied. 'You'd never get it all in one.'

He's still in intensive care.
