A Father's Message to His Daughter So let's walk right up to Him and get what He is so ready to give (Heb. 4:16). “Old as she was, she still missed her daddy sometimes."

"When You open Your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing." (Psalm 145:16)

"The Patriot Post"

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." -- James Madison, Federalist No. 45

"Wise politicians will be cautious about fettering the government with restrictions that cannot be observed, because they know that every break of the fundamental laws, though dictated by necessity, impairs that sacred reverence which ought to be maintained in the breast of rulers towards the constitution of a country." -- Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 25, 21 December 1787

This Week's 'Alpha Jackass' Award

"The budget I submitted to Congress will build our economic recovery on a stronger foundation so that we don't face another crisis like this 10 or 20 years from now. We invest in the renewable sources of energy.... We invest in our schools and our teachers.... We invest in reform that will bring down the cost of healthcare for families, businesses and our government. And in this budget, we have to make the tough choices necessary to cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term, even under the most pessimistic estimates. At the end of the day, the best way to bring our deficit down in the long run is not with a budget that continues the very same policies that have led us to a narrow prosperity and massive debt. It's with a budget that leads to broad economic growth by moving from an era of borrow and spend to one where we save and invest." -- President Barack Obama, who used the euphemisms "invest" or "investment" 18 times during his press conference to describe his massive spending increases

From the Left: More ACORN Allegations

While this could almost qualify as the bottom story of the week, a onetime ACORN employee has testified that fewer than half the voter registrations turned in by the group in the last election cycle were valid. Other allegations by Anita MonCrief, who was terminated by ACORN for improperly charging personal expenses to the group, include employees being fired if they didn't turn in 20 or more registration cards a day and violations of campaign finance law by soliciting donors who had already maxed out their contributions to Barack Obama and funneling their additional donations through ACORN's Project Vote program.

The original testimony was part of an injunction against ACORN in Pennsylvania that was denied, but her statements were reintroduced as part of a congressional hearing conducted last week.

Village Academic Curriculum: Notre Dame and Churchill

The University of Notre Dame is under immense scrutiny from students, alumni and the Catholic community at large for its decision to invite Barack Obama to give the school's commencement speech on 17 May, along with the planned presentation to Obama of an honorary law degree. At issue is Obama's ardently pro-abortion stance and policies, at direct odds with the university's Catholic roots. So far, 11 Notre Dame campus groups have formed a coalition to protest the decision, and student leaders say that number will increase. "[Y]ou cannot honor someone who violates the fundamental moral principles of the Catholic Church at a Catholic institution," said the editor of the Notre Dame student journal, "Beyond Politics," Kathleen Donahue. "[I]t's kind of a conflict of interest for a Catholic institution such as Notre Dame."

In other Village news, former Colorado University professor Ward Churchill testified in court this week in his wrongful termination lawsuit against the school. As readers may remember, Churchill drew national attention in 2005 by referring to the victims of 9/11 as "little Eichmanns," but the university maintains that Churchill was fired because he plagiarized, and falsified and fabricated research. Members of the faculty committee that investigated Churchill's research testified about unsubstantiated claims in his academic work. "We leaned over backwards to give Professor Churchill the benefit of the doubt, to give him a break where a break was needed," said Dr. Michael Radelet, whom Churchill had recommended for the review committee. "It was just sad to see a person like this, beloved like this, with many talents. But he just cheated."

Taking the stand, Churchill defended his 9/11 remarks by saying, "If you make a practice of killing other people's babies for personal gain, they will eventually give you a taste of the same thing." Closing arguments will take place on Monday.

Did Darwin recant?

It has been widely held among many sincere and well-meaning Christians that Charles Darwin on his deathbed not only renounced evolution, but also accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. The tale of this deathbed conversion has been passed down over the years as fact. This “event” has even been used as “evidence” that evolution is false. The overzealous have, at times, boldly proclaimed, “See—even Darwin knew that this theory was not true!”

What is the basis for this story? As often as it is repeated, there must be credible evidence that these events actually took place, right? Surely, the tale would not have continued though the years if it were a lie? Sadly, when evidence is sought, there is little to support this story.

Charles Darwin died in April 1882 and was buried in Westminster Abbey. Within days of his death, reports of a conversion experience began to circulate. The first report supposedly came in a sermon preached in South Wales by a gentleman identified as “Mr. Huntingdon.” Some weeks later there surfaced a report about a letter sent to John Eadie, a divinity professor in Glasgow, in which Darwin indicated, “He can with confidence look to Calvary.” Curiously, when examined, Darwin’s existing correspondence (which totals over 14,000 letters) contains no communication between these two men.

TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001.

A man from Norfolk, VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003.

His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words: A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both heard a loud pop and the car shook violently.

We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. both very upset, we drove home. I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight. My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into The southern tower. I was too shocked to speak. My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for; I have to do something. I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up. Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of my Grandchild.

Those were the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort. My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye. Then something happened.

About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child. The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son. He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack.

She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know. His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ. I began sobbing at the news. Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves .

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live.

This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control. We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, but God is ALWAYS in control.

Please take time to share this amazing story. You may never know the impact it may have on someone. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Oh, Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good.\; for His love endureth forever. (Psalm 136:1)

LETTER BY A FLORIDA TEACHER

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/blog/stu/?p=617

When will the American People get fed up and do something, or is it too late?

A teacher speaks.

This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not US citizens, and who get the PELL Grant, which is a federal grant (no pay back required) plus other federal grants to go to school? One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn’t want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL Grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money leftover.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training.

The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she ‘loves HER country.’

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn’t bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program, and IF YOU ARE A US citizen, YOU DON’T QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAM.

All the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry but after hearing that they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough.

This is a real slap in the face. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation — not even close. I don’t care whether this offends someone or not but this is MY COUNTRY.

IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP

– Please pass this along. I am not against immigration — I just expect immigrants to come through like everyone else.

Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past — and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

PART OF THE PROBLEM -Think about this: If you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone - YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

It is Time for America to speak up.

If you agree — pass this along, if you don’t — don’t!

HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI IS A SAINT!

Last month on a Saturday afternoon in Washington, D. C., House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's aide visited the Cardinal of the Catholic cathedral. He told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day's sermon, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi a saint.

The Cardinal replied, "No. There are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over certain of Pelosi's views." Pelosi's aide then said, "Look. I'll write a check here and now for a donation of $100,000 to your church if
you'll just tell the congregation you see Pelosi as a saint."

The Cardinal thought about it and said, "Well, the church can use the money, so I'll work your request into tomorrow's sermon." As Pelosi's aide promised, House Speaker Pelosi appeared for the Sunday sermon and seated herself prominently at the edge of the main aisle.

During the sermon, as promised, the Cardinal pointed out that House Speaker Pelosi was present. Then the Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation -- "While Speaker Pelosi's presence is probably an honor to some, she is not my favorite person. Some of her views are contrary to those of the church, and she tends to flip-flop on many other views. Nancy Pelosi is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. Nancy Pelosi is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief. Nancy Pelosi is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed. She married for money and is using it to lie to the American people. She also has a reputation for shirking her Representative obligations both in Washington, and in California. She simply is not to be trusted."

The Cardinal completed his view of Pelosi with, "But, when compared to Senators Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, and John Kerry, House Speaker Pelosi is a saint."

Social Security Surplus Already Gone
http://moneynews.newsmax.com/streettalk/social_security_surplus/2009/03/31/197950.html?s=al&promo_code=7D2E-1

By: Marc Davis

Another victim of the recession has cashed in its chips — the Social Security surplus.

Expected to survive until 2017, according to many educated estimates, the stock decline has instead wiped the surplus out completely.

It happened in the blink of an accountant's eye, as we were all paying attention to other serious financial problems, says Kevin Hassett of the American Enterprise Institute, commenting on this unamusing disappearing act in a column for Bloomberg.com.

"Social Security has for years been the near-term bright spot in the federal budget," writes Hassett.

"Each year the program has raised $50 billion to $100 billion more in payroll taxes than it paid out in benefits."

Opponents of Social Security reform often cited these surpluses as a good reason to postpone any attempt to fix the system.

But with American workers losing their jobs at an almost unprecedented rate, Social Security payroll revenues have declined substantially, says Hassett. Recession-driven early retirements have also increased, adding to the drawdown of funds.

Social Security reform has not been enacted, in part, because the Congressional Budget Office has been issuing excessively rosy estimates of surpluses, thus creating the unwarranted impression that the system is on firm financial ground, according to Hassett.

The decline means that the Treasury Department could be forced to borrow an additional $700 billion from foreign investors like China and Japan just as those investors seem unwilling to hold the trillions in bonds they already own.

"The Social Security trust fund, though technically in balance, is going to put huge pressures on taxpayers very soon," warns Sen. Judd Gregg, the senior Republican on the Senate Budget Committee.

An Open Letter From Jonathan Thomas:

Almost every community throughout America is facing the same social issues of immorality. Elected Liberal legislators in public offices and elected and/or appointed judges is the judiciary are forcing these issues in their support of immorality on many of us.

Dear Friend:

Perhaps you received my email on Friday. I am working to support a NC constitutional amendment to recognize marriage as one man and one woman at one time. This effort is “stuck” in the NC House and there is a collective group across this state to pass resolutions at the local level to get it on the ballots and allow us, the voters, to decide. The Republican Party of Union County overwhelming passed it and I have asked our commissioners to follow suit. Commissioner Baucom requested it be put on the agenda for Monday, April 6. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Government Center (Old Courthouse) in Monroe.

Folks, this is not controversial or so I thought. Since Friday, Commissioner Baucom has been hammered in the paper and I have even been attacked on a website!!! (I have attached the article below.) They have called the resolution a “hate-filled document.” This is from a fellow precinct chairman in the Republican Party itself and he serves as treasurer for at least one of our commissioners.

Contrary to the article below, I have not even considered a run for commissioner in 2010. The author of the article is doing everything possible to tear me down and discredit my attempts to protect something as honorable as marriage. I am willing to take the heat, but I need support. Would you be willing to just fill a seat on Monday evening at the meeting? Perhaps you or a friend would be willing to speak in support of the resolution. If so, show up before 7:00 and sign up to speak for only 1-3 minutes.

Friends, we must take a stand! The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has Union County in its sights because we close prayers at government meetings in Jesus’ name and I want to lead a strong effort to show support for our Christian beliefs. As you may know, I ran for office last year and if you are familiar with my campaign, I never used religion to invoke fear in anyone. This is no different. This resolution simply protects what you and I take for granted that marriage is between a man and a woman.

I do hope you will join me and others in supporting this resolutions. Please email me any questions you may have at this address and I will promptly respond.

Your friend,

Jonathan Thomas

Lemon?
http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2008/11/lemon.html

It's in the way you dress. The way you boogie down. The way you sign your unemployment check. You're a man who likes to do things your own way. And on those special odd-numbered Saturdays when driving is permitted, you want it in your car. It's that special feeling of a zero-emissions wind at your back and a road ahead meandering with possibilities. The kind of feeling you get behind the wheel of the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition from Congressional Motors.

All new for 2012, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the mandatory American car so advanced it took $100 billion and an entire Congress to design it. We started with same reliable 7-way hybrid ethanol-biodeisel-electric-clean coal-wind-solar-pedal power plant behind the base model Pelosi, but packed it with extra oomph and the sassy styling pizazz that tells the world that 1974 Detroit is back again -- with a vengeance.

We've subsidized the features you want and taxed away the rest. With its advanced Al Gore-designed V-3 under the hood pumping out 22.5 thumping, carbon-neutral ponies of Detroit muscle, you'll never be late for the Disco or the Day Labor Shelter. Engage the pedal drive or strap on the optional jumbo mizzenmast, and the GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition easily exceeds 2016 CAFE mileage standards. At an estimated 268 MPG, that's a savings of nearly $1800 per week in fuel cost over the 2011 Pelosi.

Even with increased performance we didn't skimp on safety. With 11-point passenger racing harnesses, 15-way airbags, and mandatory hockey helmet, you'll have the security knowing that you could survive a 45 MPH collision even if the GTxi SS/Rt were capable of that kind of illegal speed.

But the changes don't stop there. Sporty mag-style hubcaps and an all-new aggressive wedge shape designed by CM's Chief Stylist Ted Kennedy slices through the wind like an omnibus spending bill. It even features an airtight undercarriage to keep you and a passenger afloat up to 15 minutes -- even in the choppy waters of a Cape Cod inlet. Available a rainbow of color choices to match any wardrobe, from Harvest Avocado to French Mustard.

Inside, a luxurious all-velour interior designed by Barney Frank features thoughtful appointments like in-dash condom dispenser and detachable vibrating shift knob. A special high capacity hatchback holds up to 300 aluminum cans, meaning fewer trips to the redemption center. And the standard 3 speaker Fairness ActoPhonic FM low-band sound system means you'll never miss a segment of NPR again.

Best of all, the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt is made right here in the U.S.A. by fully card-checked unionized workers and Detroit's famous visionary jet-set managers. Even if you don't own one, you can enjoy the patriotic satisfaction that you're supporting the high wages, good benefits, and generous political donations that are once again making the American car industry the envy of the world.

But why not buy one anyway? With an MSRP starting at only $629,999.99, it's affordable too. Don't forget to ask about dealer incentives, rebates, tax credits, and wealth redistribution plans for customers from dozens of qualifying special interest groups. Plus easy-pay financing programs from Fannie Mae.

So take the bus to your local CM dealer today and find out why the Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition is the only car endorsed by President Barack Obama. One test drive will convince you that you'd choose it over the import brands. Even if they were still legal.

The North and South

The North has Bloomingdales, the South has Dollar General.

The North has coffee houses, the South has Waffle Houses.

The North has dating services, the South has family reunions.

The North has switchblade knives, the South has Lee Press-on-Nails.

The North has double last names, the South has double first names.

The North has Indy car races, the South has stock car races.

The North has Cream of Wheat, the South has grits.

The North has green salads, the South has collard greens.

The North has lobsters, the South has crawfish.

The North has the rust belt, the South has the Bible Belt.

FOR NORTHERNERS MOVING SOUTH . . .

In the South: --If you run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men
in a four-wheel drive pickup truck with a tow chain will be along shortly.
Don't try to help them, just stay out of their way. This is what they
live for.

Don't be surprised to find movie rentals and bait in the same store....
do not buy food at this store.

Remember, "y'all" is proper English, "all y'all" is plural, and "all
y'all's" is plural possessive

Get used to hearing "Y'all ain't from round here, are ya?"

Save all manner of bacon grease. You will be instructed later on how
to use it.

Don't be worried at not understanding what people are saying. They can't understand you either.

The first Southern statement to creep into a transplanted Northerner's
vocabulary is the adjective "big'ol," truck or big'ol" boy. Most Northerners
begin their Southern-influenced dialect this way. All of them are in
denial about it.

The proper pronunciations you learned in school is no longer proper.

Be advised that "He needed killin'." is a valid defense here.

If you hear a Southerner exclaim, "Hey, y'all, watch this", you should
stay out of the way. These are likely to be the last words he'll
ever say.

If there is the prediction of the slightest chance of even the smallest accumulation of snow, your presence is required at the local grocery store.
It doesn't matter whether you need anything or not. You just have to go there.

Do not be surprised to find that 10-year olds own their own shotguns, they are proficient marksmen, and their mamas taught them how to aim.

In the South, we have found that the best way to grow a lush green lawn is to
pour gravel on it and call it a driveway.

AND REMEMBER: If y'all do settle in the South and bear children, don't think we will accept them as Southerners. After all, if the cat had kittens in the oven,
we wouldn't call 'em biscuits.

A Bereaved Wife

Benny died.

His will provided $40,000 for an elaborate funeral. As the last guests departed the affair, his wife Sarah turned to her oldest and dearest friend. 'Well, I'm sure Benny would be pleased,' she said.

'I'm sure you're right,' replied Jody, who lowered her voice and leaned in close. 'How much did this really cost?'

'All of it,' said Sarah. 'Forty thousand.'

'No!' Jody exclaimed. 'I mean, it was very nice, but $40,000?'

Sarah answered, 'The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to church. The whiskey, wine and snacks were another $500. The rest went for the Memorial Stone.'

Jody computed quickly. '$34,500 for a Memorial Stone? My God, how big is it?'

'Four and a half carats.'
