Don't cast all decisions in cement. Be willing to modify them as changing circumstances or data dictate. -- Eric Harvey
"The Patriot Post"
"Religion in a Family is at once its brightest Ornament and its best Security." --Samuel Adams
"No compact among men ... can be pronounced everlasting and inviolable, and if I may so express myself, that no Wall of words, that no mound of parchment can be so formed as to stand against the sweeping torrent of boundless ambition on the one side, aided by the sapping current of corrupted morals on the other." -- George Washington
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." -- John Adams
"U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald called the breadth and depth of charges against Blagojevich and his Democratic Chief of Staff John Harris 'staggering.' That's an understatement. ... Fitzgerald says President-elect Obama was not implicated in the plethora of charges against Democrats Blago and Harris. The national media went out of their way to absolve him, too. But declaring Team Obama's hands clean -- especially with Blago crony and indicted Obama donor Tony Rezko in the middle of it all -- is premature. (And if you're wondering why I keep putting 'Democrat' in front of the accused corruptocrats, it's because the mainstream newspapers can't seem to remember to identify their party prominently the way they do when Republicans are nabbed.)" -- columnist Michelle Malkin
"The Web"
"Neglect mending a small fault, and 'twill soon be a great one." -- Benjamin Franklin
“No other book has known anything approaching this constant circulation.” -- The Cambridge History of the Bible
“The more we read the gospel, the stronger our faith becomes.” -- Pope Pius X, 1903
“Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” -- St. Jerome, Roman Catholic church father
"The Heritage Foundation" - How saddened it is for the NY Times to misrepresent the "truth". It is a story told me as a child which seems to compare to the NY Times: "It is easier to climb a tree to tell a lie than to stand on the ground and tell the truth". - oyh
A Legacy That Matters
The Bush administration is hopping mad at the New York Times for a story the Gray Lady published Sunday, "White House Philosophy Stoked Mortgage Bonfire .." The White House will have to defend itself on this one, but we are concerned that the Times, in its partisan desire to tarnish President Bush, provides far too narrow a focus on the government's central role in creating the current crisis. By pretending troublesome government policies that contributed to the housing bubble began with Bush, the Times makes it easier for those inclined to make the same policy mistakes again.

B-Government-sponsored entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are at the core of the current housing crisis. Fannie and Freddie make no actual loans; instead they buy loans from banks, and then bundle and repackage them as securities. For years Fannie and Freddie leveraged their government-sponsored advantages -- including exemptions from state and federal taxes, lower capital requirements, and the ability to borrow at rates well below those paid by private companies -- to create a co-monopoly in the housing finance sector.
Fannie and Freddie partnered with lenders to expand the subprime market. With Fannie and Freddie's help, subprime giant Countrywide Financial grew from a tiny institution to the largest mortgage lender in the country. At the height of the boom, Fannie and Freddie bought 44% of the entire subprime market. Long before Bush took office, Heritage warned about the systemic risk Fannie and Freddie posed to the American taxpayer. In 1991, following the Savings and Loan disaster, Heritage pushed for the full privatization of Fannie and Freddie, predicting that " maintaining secondary mortgage firms in a twilight zone between the public and private sectors ... may be a recipe for an eventual taxpayer bailout." No one listened.
Even the New York Times noticed the risks posed by Fannie and Freddie in September 1999, a full 16 months before Bush took office. The Times reported:
In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders. ...
Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. ...
In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's.
The debate over Fannie and Freddie is much more important than Bush's legacy. Fannie and Freddie existed before Bush came to office, they were instrumental in worsening the housing bubble, and now some want to make sure they continue to exist long after Bush leaves. Who on earth would want Fannie and Freddie to continue to exist in their current form? Senate Banking Chairman Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY)? That's who.

NBC Touts How Biden Will Boldly Put Middle Class 'Front & Center'
In an abbreviated edition of Sunday's NBC Nightly News, the network still found time to tout as newsworthy how Vice President-elect Joe Biden will chair a "White House Task Force on Working Families." With "Focus on the Middle Class" on screen below a picture of Biden, anchor Lester Holt, referring to ABC's This Week, asserted Biden had "revealed" his function: "In an interview that aired today, the Vice President-elect, Joe Biden, revealed his role as the new administration's point man on the middle class." NBC reporter John Yang affirmed that "making good on a central theme of the campaign," Biden "laid down a bold political yardstick for economic policy." Viewers then heard a fairly pedestrian clip of Biden on ABC: "Is the middle class no longer being left behind? We'll look at everything from college affordability to after-school programs, the things that affect people's daily lives." Yang then heralded, with "front and center" enlarged on screen from the press release: "Biden will head a cabinet-level task force making sure middle class and working families are 'front and center.'" How reassuring.
Behar: Obama Picking Warren = 'Cheney in Charge of Gun Control'
On Thursday's The View, co-host Joy Behar expressed her displeasure at President-elect Barack Obama's choice of Rick Warren for the invocation at his inauguration: "I don't think it's appropriate. It's like putting, you know, Cheney in charge of gun control. It's wrong....it's just wrong."
And again, now "My Comments":
This issue is not about Rev. Rick Warren of the Evangelical Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif., but about the evil activities and their personal values which so many are dying from.
Why do so many across America tolerate and/or even support National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), when as many as 90% of the gay and lesbian community who die from practicing this activity die from AIDS? Does anyone even care if gay or lesbian activity may be a form of rape, unless it is committed on children only?
How can we change the hearts of mankind to read, study, and accept the Judeo-Christian community values from our Bible and rebuild their own thoughts, their own beliefs, and their own bodies? God Bless each of you.

Employee Forced to Say “Happy Holidays” Was Fired After Objecting to the Greeting
www.LC.org
A rental assistant for a property management company in Panama City, Florida was fired recently after she objected to saying "Happy Holidays." Tonia Thomas offered to say either "Merry Christmas" or to continue greeting callers the same way they are greeted throughout the year.
After she politely explained to the company president that her religious beliefs prevented her from contributing to the secularization of Christmas, he fired her for "insubordination" because she refused to say "Happy Holidays."
When she insisted on taking her purse from her desk, he summoned the police and forced her to leave. Tonia filed a complaint with the EEOC and contacted Liberty Counsel for legal representation.
Please pray for Tonia, her husband (who is serving in the Air Force), and their 6-year-old son. Read the rest of this outrageous incident in our News Release.
All of us at Liberty Counsel wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Let us never forget that Jesus is the reason for the CHRISTmas season!

The Gynecologist who became a Mechanic
A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork, and was burned out. Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time of the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks, and completed the exam with tremendous skill. When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the Instructor, saying 'I don't want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade. The instructor said, 'During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark.' After a pause, the instructor added, 'I gave you an extra 50%because you did it all through the muffler.'
