The Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass

"Step Forward Now, You Soldier
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek
To the Church have you been true?

The Soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a Saint.

I've had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was tough
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the Throne
Where the Saints had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly
For the Judgment of his God

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

To all who have served their country

ADF attorneys seek appeal in NY same-sex “marriage” recognition suits

NY officials attempting to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriage” in contradiction to state law

ALBANY, N.Y. — Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund filed documents Wednesday seeking to appeal separate lawsuits against New York officials for attempting to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages” in contradiction to state law. ADF attorneys are arguing in Lewis v. New York State Department of Civil Service that the department illegally redefined the term “spouse” in order to extend marriage benefits to same-sex couples “wed” outside the state. In Godfrey v. Spano, ADF attorneys argue that Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano illegally ordered county agencies to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages.”

“New York state and local officials should not recognize the laws of foreign jurisdictions when they conflict with state law,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Brian Raum. “These officials have overstepped their authority in order to forward the agenda of special interest groups.”

On behalf of New York taxpayers, ADF attorneys filed suit in May 2007 against the Department of Civil Service in the New York Supreme Court for Albany County for directing all state agencies to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages” so that the “wed” couples could receive health insurance benefits. ADF attorneys are alleging in the New York State Court of Appeals that the directive illegally replaces state law with laws from foreign jurisdictions at the expense of taxpayers and families who have not consented to it.

In August 2006, ADF attorneys representing Westchester County taxpayers filed suit against Spano to stop him from exceeding his constitutional authority by issuing an illegal order requiring county agencies to recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages.” The lawsuit challenging Spano’s order, which attempted to redefine marriage, was dismissed in March 2007, and the decision is now being appealed to the New York State Court of Appeals.

ADF-allied attorney Jim Trainor is serving as local counsel on the Lewis v. New York State Department of Civil Service case.
• Motion for leave to appeal filed in Lewis v. New York State Department of Civil Service
• Motion for leave to appeal in Godfrey v. Spano

ADF is a legal alliance of Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations defending the right of people to freely live out their faith. Launched in 1994, ADF employs a unique combination of strategy, training, funding, and litigation to protect and preserve religious liberty, the sanctity of life, marriage, and the family.

"Accuracy In Media" - As you probably never saw the "GOP Plan B", as the Democrat majority never allowed it to be openly discussed and voted on the floor, and the National News Media does not cover positive GOP Conservative news. Here is the

"House GOP Plan B", in summary. - oyh

House GOP Offers Plan B

http://www.aim.org/briefing/house-gop-offers-plan-b/
Briefing | By Heather Latham | February 13, 2009

Responding to a request given by President Obama for involvement, the House Republicans came up with the House Republican Economic Recovery Plan. It is their alternative to the stimulus package. It is intended to make “twice the jobs at half the cost.” There are five parts of this plan—

1. Cut tax rates for “every taxpaying-family in America.”
2. Tax cuts for small businesses so they can “free up funds…to retain and hire new employees.”

3. “Any stimulus spending should be paid for by reducing other government spending, not raising taxes.”

4. Because “the Federal Government actually imposes income taxes on an individual receiving unemployment benefits,” the “House Republicans propose to make unemployment benefits tax free.”

5. “House Republicans propose a home-buyers credit of $7,500 for those buyers who can make a minimum down-payment of 5%.”

All of the above information came from the Office of the Republican Whip’s website, where the layout of the plan is listed.

Representative Dave Camp (R-MI) was supposed to explain this plan at a Conservative Bloggers’ Briefing, and although he says, “We have some specific items that they don’t have,” and “We [have] a viable alternative,” when questioned, that is about all he said of it.

Rep. Camp brings up the idea of “rate reductions” that are unique to this bill. He argues that the stimulus package does not carry it. He addresses the complaint that tax cuts for unemployment benefits are a cut for the rich by saying simply, “People who are unemployed are not rich.” When questioned about the long-term effects of this alternative, he asserts that this plan is not intended to be a long-term economic plan, but a short-term stimulus. He says, “This is not our long-term, stable policy document.” He explains that a long-term plan is currently being discussed, but the alternative is just a short-term response to not only the economic downturn, but the stimulus package being pushed through Congress. Rep. Camp says that people, after hearing about the stimulus package, say, “This is wasteful; how is that going to help?” He argues that the House Republican Economic Recovery Plan will help.

Perhaps the best part of this plan is explained by the Office of the Republican Whip’s website: “The House GOP plan does not include wasteful pet projects and it ensures that the funding immediately goes into effect. No waste, just jobs.” However, because of this very fact, this plan will probably never get passed, and the United States will end up with an $800 billion-plus stimulus package with lots of goodies for the constituents of various members of Congress.

TV Stations Ban 'Speechless...Silencing the Christians'

Stations bow to pressure from handful of homosexual activists

February 13, 2009

Dear Oscar,

Two TV stations, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI and WSYX-TV in Columbus, OH, have banned a television special showing how the media is silencing Christians. The stations bowed down to the demands of a handful of homosexual activists and banned the showing of our TV special "Speechless...Silencing the Christians." The one-hour TV special was scheduled to be shown on the stations, but the stations yanked the program after agreeing to run it. AFA was paying for the time.

You can watch the one-hour banned program here.

You can order a DVD of the one-hour TV special "Speechless...Silencing the Christians" and show it in your church. See for yourself and let your church members see the AFA special that the stations banned!

Or, order all 14 of the original 22-minute episodes of "Speechless...Silencing the Christians" with a discussion guide, and show them in your church.

Oddly enough, the TV special shows how the media censors Christians, which is exactly what these two stations did!

They said the program was "controversial." The stations do not consider showing two lesbians or two homosexuals kissing or getting into bed with each other controversial. The stations do not consider all the profanity they air controversial. They regularly show network programs advocating the homosexual agenda, but those programs are not considered controversial. However, a special showing of Christians being silenced is controversial!

The manager of the Columbus station told AFA the station would not air the program because telling the truth about homosexuality did not represent "positive Christianity." Are we moving to a time in the near future when local pastors whose services are broadcast will be banned because their sermons call the practice of homosexuality a sin?

Please, forward this critical message to your family and friends today!

Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to help us continue?

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon,

"The email Bag"

Bible salesmen

A Pastor concluded that his Church was getting into very serious financial troubles. While checking the Church storeroom, he discovered several cartons of new Bibles that had never been opened and distributed.

So at his Sunday Sermon, he asked for three volunteers from the congregation who would be willing to sell the Bibles door-to-door for $10 each to raise the desperately needed money for the church.

Jack, Paul and Louie all raised their hands to volunteer for the task.

The Minister knew that Jack and Paul earned their living as salesmen and were likely capable of selling some Bibles. But he had serious doubts about Louie who was a local farmer, who had always kept to himself because he was embarrassed by his speech impediment. Poor Louis stuttered badly. But, NOT WANTING
TO discourage Louis, the Minister decided to let him try anyway.

He sent the three of them away with the back seat of their cars stacked with Bibles. He asked them to meet with him and report the results of their door-to-door selling efforts the following Sunday.

Anxious to find out how successful they were, the Minister immediately asked Jack, 'Well, Jack, how did you make out selling our Bibles last week?'

Proudly handing the Reverend an envelope, Jack replied, 'Using my sales prowess, I was able to sell 20 Bibles, and here's the $200 I collected on behalf of the Church.'

'Fine job, Jack!' The minister said, vigorously shaking his hand. 'You are indeed a fine salesman and the Church is indebted to you.'

Turning to Paul, 'And Paul, how many Bibles did you sell for the Church last week?

Paul, smiling and sticking out his chest, confidently replied, 'I am a professional salesman. I sold 28 Bibles on behalf of the Church, and here's $280 I collected.'

The minister responded, 'That's absolutely splendid, Paul. You are truly a professional salesman and the Church is indebted to you.'

Apprehensively, the minister turned to Louie and said, 'And Louie, did you manage to sell any Bibles last week?' Louie silently offered the Minister a large envelope.

The Minister opened it and counted the contents. 'What is this?' the Minister exclaimed. 'Louie, there's $3200 in here! Are you suggesting that you sold 320 Bibles for the Church, door to door, in just one week?'

Louie just nodded. That's impossible!' both Jack and Paul said in unison. 'We are professional salesmen, yet you claim to have sold 10 times as many Bibles as we could.'

'Yes, this does seem unlikely,' the Minister agreed! 'I think you'd better explain how you managed to accomplish this, Louie.'

Louie shrugged. 'I-I-I re-re-really do-do-don't kn-kn-know f-f-f-for sh-sh-sh-sure,' he stammered.

Impatiently, Peter interrupted. 'For crying out loud, Louie, just tell us what you said to them when they answered the door!'

'A-a-a-all I-I-I s-s-said wa-wa-was,' Louis replied, 'W-w-w-w-would y-y-y-you l-l-l-l-l-like t-t-to b-b-b-buy th-th-th-this B-B-B-B-Bible F-f-for t-t-ten b-b-b-bucks o-o-o-or--- wo-wo-would yo-you j-j-j-just l-like m-m-me t-t-to st-st-stand h-h-he re and r-r-r-r-r-read it t-to y-y-you??'
